Both Kevin Love and Rajon Rondo are putting up eye-popping stats in their respective categories, but which is more impressive?

The assists, and it's not terribly close. Ben Wallace averaged 15.4 rebound per game in 02-03, but nobody in the last 10 years is even within 2 assists/game of Rondo. Nash and Paul at 11.6 is the closest anyone's come.

Now, if we look at AST% (percentage of teammate's shots that were assisted) and TRB% (Percentage of available rebounds gotten), things look a little different. CP3 had a higher assist percentage in 2008-09 than Rondo this year (54.5% to 53.5%). And Kevin Love moves further ahead.... except Reggie Evans this year has an even higher TRB% than he does!

I think just looking at the OP's question, you're right.

I'll also say that Rondo's a clear all-star and Love isn't right now.

With that said, if we just look at Rondo's assist getting vs Love's rebound getting, I think I might lean toward Love. 14 APG taken at face value implies that this one guy is absolutely doing all the thinking for the offense and that they'd be lost without him. We've seen games though for the Celtics without Rondo, they don't look lost at all.

Meanwhile, since Love's actually been set free, he's averaging well over 17 RPG and leading the Wolves to a massive rebounding edge.

Bottom line, through these guys on other teams, I think Rondo's APG is much more likely to tumble than Love's RPG.

Players are more likely to record records than rebounds
