I remember reading the "speed" over pace while back and the current pace statistics shortcomings in measuring the "speed" of a teams offense. I imagine this has been done before but what about incorporating what percentage of the teams offense comes early in the shot lock vs late to help measure offensive speed? If this has been done before I haven't run into it yet
Rankings by highest percentage of attempts in the first 10 seconds of the shot clock in 2011 up to January 19th (thanks to 82 games) looks like this:
1. Suns (43%)
2. Pacers (41%)
Wolves (41%)
Knicks (41%)
5. Nuggets (40%)
Warriors (40%)
Kings (40%)
Raptors (40%)
9. Rockets (39%)
Clippers (39%)
Thunder (39%)
12. Cavaliers (38%)
Grizzlies (38%)
14. Bulls (37%)
Lakers (37%)
Sixers (37%)
17. Magic (36%)
Wizards (36%)
19. Jazz (34%)
Spurs (34%)
21. Pistons (33%)
Heat (33%)
Nets (33%)
Bucks (33%)
Trailblazers (33%)
Mavericks (33%)
Bobcats (33%)
Celtics (33%)
Hawks (33%)
30. Hornets (32%)
No surprises. Your thoughts?

Hmm, I don't get why everyone calls the Spurs a fast paced team when criticizing their win total. Neither this nor B-ref's pace stat suggests they're gunning.

Also, the Suns are the fastest team in the league. It's apparent that Nash is still operating under that run and gun system, hence making him a system player that is incapable of winning a championship.
