Hehe, yeah saw that. Interesting metric they use where they judge a player basically based on him being prone to hit shots from as random positions as possible. One of those cases where if the results had looked like crap I wouldn't have thought much of it. However when you try out a novel shooting theory and get a top 4 of

1. Nash
2. Ray
3. Kobe
4. Dirk

...you may be on to something.

I think the Range % stat is quite illuminating. Chandler ranks low, even though he has a high FG, which holds true to where he gets his points from. I'll have to look into it with more detail, but very interesting regardless.

Brilliant paper. Don't agree 100% with the order, as I think there are other factors they didn't (and couldn't) integrate, and am a little surprised by the exclusion of certain players from the top 10, but its nice to see a more thorough approach than simple fg%. That took a lot of work and I admire it.

The results they came up with are certainly not far off from what you'd imagine and you can't argue with the effort put forth behind.I'm glad to see certain players I always thought were very underrated shooting-wise listed, (Paul Pierce and Joe J., both need to get more recognition for their shooting talent).
