Western Conference vs Eastern Conference

Not sure if this belongs here, but...

(Bill Nye voice)...consider the following.(/Bill Nye voice)

At this moment, the Memphis Grizzlies are 8-7 and would miss the playoffs if the playoffs started today. If they were an Eastern Conference team, they'd have the #3 seed.

Meanwhile, at this same moment, the Atlanta Hawks are 8-8 and would be half a game behind the Memphis Grizzlies if they were a Western Conference team. They do have the #3 seed in the East.

Just some food for thought.

To pile onto that thought, looking at SRS of teams through games played on 11/25:

1. Spurs
2. Heat
3. Pacers

East w/ 2 of the top 3. The 3rd east team, Atlanta? 14th!

So the east's 3rd is the west's 11.

The disparity should become less apparent as the season goes on. After all, Eastern Conference teams do play 52 games against the other teams in the East.

It's still amazing how much better teams are put together and coached out West

As it stands, the 10-12 Charlotte Bobcats would have playoff home-court advantage.

The Bobcats. Home-court advantage.

Just... what.
