This is basically expanded John Hollinger's Usage Rate, taking into account some additional offensive possessions "actions", such as secondary assists, screen assists or offensive rebounding. To no surprize Russell Westbrook is way ahead of the competition

It would be interesting to see how is (and has been) Involvement Rate related to WIN%, MVP award, All-Star, All-NBA selection etc.

Direct Offensive Contribution stat has been added to Involvement Rate. You can read more about it at:

Direct Offensive Efficiency (DOE) is the next one coming up. Gonna be interesting to see how some franchise players can do more with less involvement on offense and some others somehow get to those 25-30 points per game, but being ball-hungry.

Involvement Rate and Direct Offensive Contribution were used to develop another offensive indicator, Direct Offensive Efficiency. While NBA.com Efficiency is more of an effectiveness indicator, this new measure DOE is based on input-output ratio and is as such a "real" efficiency indicator.

The most interesting finding is probably that the most efficient player this season was Durant, while Westbrook's efficiency is quite average. I wonder how they compared in the previous season(s).

Flawed stat, though I like what its trying to do. FGs should be separated by assisted and unassisted at the very least. I'm guessing Russell outperforms unassisted FGs at a good clip, while KD is usually a heavily assisted scorer.

There is another interesting usage statistics, called Offensive load, it's similar to Involvement Rate, yet it can calculate involvement on offense for all the way back to 1978.
