Shouldn't the question have been, "What kind of numbers should Beno Udrith produce to justify his horrific contract?"

There are several stats you can use as an estimator for that. An example: PER (15 is the average), if the player has more than the average amount of minutes and more than the average PER he is producing more than an average player. Right now (which means for all games until the 11/20/2009) 221 is the average value for minutes played. Udrih's PER is 16.1 and he played 331 minutes. So, basically he should get more than the MLE.

His percentage of the team win shares in comparison to his salary (for Udrih 0.7 of 5, or 14% while getting 11.4% of the salary), you can argue that Udrih should get those 14% of the salary.

Another thing would be looking at his +/- numbers. Udrih is right at +37, while without him on the court the Kings are at -57. He is the best player on the Kings in that category, combine that with his amount of minutes, he should get more than the MLE right now.

Overall you have to keep in mind that those kind of things depend on the team the player is playing for right now. You can't argue that he would worth the money on every other team. Those kind of stuff depends on the roster structure. Udrih might worth his contract for the Kings with his production until now, but I doubt that he is worth it for the most teams in the NBA.
