How to further develop my game?

Post#1 » by DCRYsing89 » Fri Feb 23, 2018 9:19 am

I have only been playing for about a year.
My midrange is around a 40-50% normally,
My 3 stands at 20-30%, (I only attemp 1 a game for this reason, genrally they are genrally off the catch, or off a screen)
I have most of the layup packages (Jelly, Euro, Floater etc.), and i can finish with or through contact genrally quite easily, i do lack a left handed layup though.
My ball handling is very defensive, I focus mainly on protecting the ball. But if the opponent reaches i do have nice behind the back and quick crossovers that can be effective, but i still get many turnovers standing at 6'3 with a slow dribble.
My passing is incossistent, i can be read quite easily leading to turnovers, but I do have a wide variety of passes i can do (spin, one hand, two hand, behind the back etc.) And i do have solid court vision so when i make passes they can genrally lead to assists.
On the P&R i am decent, my passing, shooting and driving is all at a decent level, as the Pick i also am solid though weak.
On defense i cover passing lanes decently and with a 6'7 wingspan my length i manage to pick passes alot, i also do not commit reach in fouls.
I also am a decent on ball defender, wether against larger or smaller players i can hold my own decently (specialise in perimeter)
I take charges happily, i get fouled sometimes for blockeping players from behind, but normally i am a decent rim protector for my height.
Physically at 6'3 with a 6'7 wingspan and a 24inch vertical i can get reasonably high (cant dunk yet though), i am agile and decent stamina.
My averages this season is (per game)
6.5 points
8.5 rebounds
4 assists
3 steals
1 block
1 foul
1 turnover
35%FG
12.5% 3pt
55%FT

What is my next step to improve my game?
How can i get out of a shooting slump?
How can i fulfil a bigger role in the team?
Also what role and position should i play? (My team switches me around from a giannis esc role to a dwight Howard or a Roberson one and then sometimes even makes me play a DeRozan/Reddick role of spoting up on midrange)
After your first, you change, you mature, you dont just jump into things.

After getting dunked on for the first time, life becomes complex.

As an experienced HS coach I'd suggest focusing on ballhandling and offensive footwork.

By footwork do you mean post, triple threat, offball ect.?
Do you have any NBA or Euro players i can study to help that aspect of my game?
Thanks for the reply

To improve the quickness and accuracy of your passing do the Jason William's and stick a small target on the wall and practice hitting that target with passes as fast and accurate as possible.

To improve court vision get a partner and work on attacking while your partner spaces out. If they put their hands up pass them the ball. If they don't score.

Footwork

Work on front pivot/front pivot crossover step
Inside pivot/inside pivot sweep back
Drop step/drop step inside pivot

Shooting
Form shooting
Then give yourself a made shot target within as small a time frame as possible

Dribbling
To increase the strength of your dribble stand on a bench and dribble as hard as possible
Moves -- the 55 second drill you got up and down the court four times in 55 seconds making a dribble move at the free throw line, half court line and opposite 3 point line.
