Ringer's Top 100 NBA Players

Post#1 » by AFM » Sat Dec 17, 2022 2:11 pm

Apologies if this was discussed in another thread but I found this list interesting and sure to spark some debate:

They have 3 Wizards in the top 100:

-Beal @ 36
-Porzingis @ 53
-Kuzma @ 82

I'm a little surprised to see Davis at number 8 especially since they seem to factor reliability into their rankings.

Lebron is WAY too high. The guy is posting a below-average TS% of .558 and takes a ton of plays off on defense. At this point, he's basically a rich man's Kyle Kuzma - a borderline All-Star player but no longer in the top 15.

The rest of the list is pretty good. I'd move Mikal Bridges up a bit and Trae Young down a bit,

Well, they aren't going to be wrong about Jokic or Giannis or Steph, are they? But, in a zillion ways this set of rankings, overall, seems way way off to me.

On the one hand, as most such tend to be, it's a legacy listing -- LeBron so high, for example (as has been pointed out).
On the other hand, I don't see how they can possibly list Jimmy Butler so low.

For that matter, no, Jayson Tatum is not the 6th best player in the game (or the 16th: is he really even the 26th?). He's not as good as Tyrese Haliburton. & that's no insult, btw, as I don't think there are 5 players in the game right now who are on a tier with Tyrese Halliburton!

SG-A is a much better player than Devin Booker. Chris Paul is still one of the top players in the league.

In all, it's pretty awful.

These sorts of lists don't strive for accuracy; they strive for virality.

Kyrie at 66? Really? He at least has to be a top 50 NBA player…even with his piss poor D and off court issues.

Playing 124 games in four years with Brooklyn probably factored into the rating.
