Germany had 12 Offensive boards. 4 of which were team rebounds. Tough to overcome the size advantage. Kerr made a decision to play small and stick with the best talent. Works great with Curry on your team. Or with NBA refs and goaltending rules. International ball still allows teams to play Big. We need to add an infusion of size before the Olympics. Develop some bigs who can play a few games as needed.

we learned this back in 06. seems like yesterday but that's 17 years ago.

Poll, would you put Bron on the 24 Olympic team? I would only as gentlemans reserve player, I wouldn't have him on a starting -5

Depends on who else is on the team. He'd be starting if he played this year. He doesn't look like he's lost a step so it's not like he's a broken down Larry Bird on the '92 squad.

Looking at the current roster at F:

Banchero
Mikal Bridges
Ingram
Cam Johnson
Bobby Portis

who's he coming off the bench for?

Even with a list of other, better forwards league-wide,

Zion
Randle
Michael Porter Jr
Jerami Grant
Scotty Barnes
Kuzma
Trey Murphy

Lebron would start ahead of all of them.

And looking at the full roster of eligible players at F:

Butler
Tatum
Jaylen Brown
Durant
DeRozan
Randle
Kawhi
Paul George
Gordon

Ideally? Yeah, he should probably come off the bench but not by much.

The best team of 11 guys would probably be:

Steph/Dame
Kyrie/Butler
Kawhi/George/Tatum
Durant/Lebron
Davis/JJJ

If you want to mix in young and old, I'd personally like to see:

Steph/Halliburton
Butler/Mitchell
Tatum/Brown
Durant/Lebron/Randle
JJJ/Bam

That ain't a dream team though.

Of the 7 players that hit 10+ WS last season, only 2 were American (Butler 3rd and Tatum 6th; intl's were Jokic, Sabonis, Embiid, SGA, and Luca). In 1992, there highest international WS was Olajuwon at 20th (Shrempf was 21st; Petrovic was 39th, Sarunas Marciulionis was 54th, and Mutombo was 82nd).

Of the 10 players that hit 25+ PER last season, only 5 were American (Davis 5th, Butler 6th, Dame, Durant, and Zion 8-10; intl's were Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Luka, and SGA).

I don't know, man. In 2006, the narrative was "the US needs to take it seriously." By 2028, even if the top talent were all playing and the US took it super seriously, I'm not sure the US would be able to "kick it into gear." SGA and Tatum would both be 29, Luka would 28, we'd still have really good guards but the F/C position would be threadbare. We're gonna be calling up Walker Kessler? Chet Holmgren? Have Cooper Flagg check Luka?

Last time the US won the world cup was 2014
The roster was a lot more stacked then I remembered.
