Tori Eason will be the bargain. He's not a scorer. His defense will be undervalued.nate33 wrote:Chocolate City Jordanaire wrote:Eason was the pick I wanted in that draft.payitforward wrote:If you mean that Tommy Sheppard "should have" moved up for Dyson Daniels, sure! Except that no one above us seemed interested in a trade down that year.
But even that is not an issue.
Tommy could simply have taken Tari Eason or Jalen Williams at 10. Or traded down & come away with Tari Eason & another terrific prospect.
Tommy was undeniably awful in this & every draft he ever ran. That's why he's gone.
Houston has killed it in past few drafts.
We need to keep an eye out for Summer 2026. Jabari Smith and Tari Eason are restricted free agents that year when Houston will already be paying Brooks, Green and Sengun a combined $92M while also having to keep an eye toward the following season when Thompson and Whitmore need to be resigned. It's possible that they will only be able to pay one of Smith/Eason and we should have the cap room to sign the other.
It would be great to have Coulibaly, Eason, and Sarr in a couple of years. Combine them with Ace Bailey or Cooper Flagg or Igor Denim; along with Carrington and George, and that team would compete.
