Remember the Wall-Westbrook trade?

The 1st round pick sent to Houston in that trade is now owned by… the Knicks.

But it’s top 10 protected in 2025 and top 8 protected in 2026. It becomes two second round picks after that.

So the Wiz will definitely be tanking next year to guarantee that 1st never conveys.

Other than that, Will Dawkins has kept all future picks, stockpiled 2nd rounders, got a 2029 1st in the Avdija for Carrington deal, and heavily protected GSW 1st rounder in the CP3 for Poole deal after the Beal trade to Phoenix.

thanks for the reminder on that pick that the Knicks now own.
We certainly cannot allow that pick to convey this year (2025).
If we get a great player in 2025, and we should, losing it (in 2026) would not be good
but not the end of the world either. We might be good enough by then for
it to be well outside of the lottery, but that's pure speculation.
