I don't see us adding Tristan as a non 2-way player. Why would we? He just agreed to a 2-way deal which keeps him on the roster without using a roster spot, and we retain his RFA rights.

So given summer league, do you think AJ could be one of those that we waive? Kind of a shame that we couldn't see Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley at SL.

No. They won’t make any decisions based on summer league. I guess maybe if he is slacking in practice or has a bad attitude he could be cut, but I doubt it. He’s too young.

From what I see, October 21st is the final roster date. The older players are

Dillon Jones, 24
Justin Champagnie, 24
Jamir Watkins, 24
Corey Kistpert, 26
Marvin Bagley, 26
Marcus Smart, 31
Khris Middelton, 34
CJ McCollum, 34

Remove Watkins as he is on a 2-way as are Vuk and Watkins (not listed as they are younger). I don't see Champagnie, Kispert or Bagley (duh) getting waived.

All of Smart, Middleton and McCollum are on their last year, so they could be waived.

Jones seems like one of the odd men out. To me, this is the last "interesting" thing for the preseason.

We didn't pick up Holmes's option, thus we are now at 20 players & must ditch 2 of them.

You didn't mention either Malaki Branham or Blake Wesley; they would seem the obvious candidates to me. Moreso than Jones, I'd say.

edit: of course we may trade a vet (two?). Situation still fluid, IOW.

Great point on Holmes. Yep, down to two.

And yes, those were the two that nate mentioned earlier (my comment was it was a shame they couldn't be playing is SL to see where they are at...).

If we trade a vet, then we somehow need to do a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 where we are getting the 1? :dontknow:

I am fascinated by the roster process of this FO, I only mentioned the older players because of what this FO tends to do - get younger. I have no clue as to their next move. Fluid indeed...

There are a lot of reports of Smart being bought out by the Zards. I can see that. There are also reports that he might rejoin Boston. I can see that as well.

SA took washed up Olynyk off our hands and included a 2026 R2 pick as well. All to get rid of those two guys. They have no future with us....
