Tre Johnson: welcome to the DMV

This draft class is as good as last years was bad. Looking forward to seeing this rook class go out and ball. Getting 96-97 vibes from this class. Poor man’s version.

Second best player in the draft. Yeah I said it. Putting my crystal ball down now...

I don't know if he'll be the second best player, but I feel really good that we grabbed the best guy on the board at #6. That's all you can hope for.

And that video makes a real good point about Tre being totally unbothered by defenders right in his face. His quick, high release really does give him Devin Booker/Klay Thompson potential as a scorer. And his handle is real advanced for a rookie shooting guard. You can definitely see star potential there. He is much more than merely the next Malik Beasley, as I saw some scouts characterize him.

Factor his gym rat mindset, and I think he's the best prospect we've had since John Wall.

Personally, at this point I expect him to end up being top 4-6, there are a ton of contenders 7-60, that will probably top into the top 5 or top 8 or whatever too, not sure which one will climb way up there in time, but somebody or somebodies, are going to.

I think Flagg, and Harper are largely locked in to being top 5 or 6 guys, the question is, who will join them, I'm fairly certain Tre Johnson will join them, not sure if Bailey will, not sure if VJ will, not sure what guys 7-60 will.

I actually think there’s a chance Harper will struggle. Chemistry. Spacing. Unknown coaching factors. I will not be surprised when it’s Tre in the conversation for ROTY over Harper. He’ll have a chance to put up numbers on this team. Creates his own spacing with his shot and range. Clutch mindset will get him highlights since he wants the ball late. Aside from vets who will play limited total minutes with the team, showcased and traded, Tre will likely be the #1 option scorer on this team.

If Flagg stays healthy he still has pole position in the race. Even sharing the ball with AD. But the numbers for Tre are probably going to pop off the page and generate tweets and articles.

Oh, I'm thinking career, not '25-'26, I don't really care about '25-'26 in the slightest, I'd much prefer Tre to slowly build his career out, and begin peaking '28-'38, I don't care a whit about ROY or any of that ----, and yeah, going to San Antonio? I doubt he has a great rookie year, it's almost impossible to see how, but career wise? I fully expect him to be hit. I'll be stunned if he doesn't.

I think you don't truly value how good Harper is.... He's incredible and will replace Fox once SA figures out that isn't going to work.... He's bigger, stronger, younger, and a better PG..... Also much cheaper, so I don't think they will keep Fox for more than a season or 2...

The Future is Harper, Castle, Bryant, Wemby and whoever is the 4.... That teams defense is going to be outrageous....

I just realized that Tre Johnson measured out very impressively at the combine.

He had the fastest lane agility score in the entire draft class at 10.49.
He had the 8th fastest standing vertical leap in the draft class at 32.0 inches.
His 5.5" wingspan differential ranked in the top 10 in the draft class.

I agree with doclinkin on Tre vs Dylan Harper. The Wizards got the surer bucket getter. He's better than Beal was as a rookie. Tre will drop 30 at some point as a rookie.

Harper will only struggle because of the fit with De'Aaron Fox and to a bigger extent Stephon Castle. You give them the opportunity to see if it can work but eventually they may need to clear the deck for Harper to settle in as the #2 guy.

From what I saw at summer league, he's star in waiting. He's extremely quick and explosive for his size. He will get into the lane at will with NBA spacing and a tight handle that can string together multiple moves and counters.

We've got Tre and he doesn't feel like Calbert Cheaney.. (Bad lottery luck leaves you drafting a guy right outside the top eschelon of the draft)
We actually got ourselves one of them one's, so I'm excited to watch his development and will have to go down to the stadium and see these boys in person a few games this year....

You were the first or most persistent or both of the early guys in on Tre. In a lot of ways until the combine Tre was like a reverse Fears. Tre was top 4 to 6 ranked by every recruiting service in ‘24, Fears was 25-40 by every one. Connected mockers had Fears consistently 5th to 10th for the ‘25 draft while they had Tre much more volatile from ranking services and consistently lower than recruiters (6th-12th) with word that half the league had him at the end of the lottery and half had him back half of the top 10. Really weird. I became a buyer Friday after the draft when all the inside stuff got dumped into the media sphere.

I thought you saw that last month. His testing was like a reverse Queen and his interviews a reverse Bailey. Nobody other than Kon had a better draft process than Tre in May/June in terms of workouts, interviews, combine and background checking.

Won’t hit age 20 until the final month of the season too. Dude won’t play a full age 30 season until ‘35-‘36. How awesome is that?
