Gil might have to testify against his cohorts in order to get a plea deal.

Back to the future 2

The govt should do what it can to discourage it.
On net, society is harmed by gambling. For many
people, it activates the reward system in a way
that causes them to lose control. Then they often
eff up their lives catastrophically.
A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity

When you are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression

Those who are convinced of absurdities, can be convinced to commit atrocities

Arenas is back streaming again. It seems like he is complying with the authorities. It also appears that reddit hates Gilbert Arenas and are adoring whatever Kwame is saying.

High stakes gambling has been an issue with Mr. Arenas. It seems to be horror show of antics that surrounds his life. This time the consequences should be overwhelming. He has not learned anything from the past. Growing up Gilbert if you have a problem get some help.

If the house takes a cut, then it's something a bit more than a private poker game among friends. It's basically a gambling establishment which involves a ton of taxation and regulation. I'm sure the casino owners in the area who pay a heavy tax load would disagree with characterizing this as a private poker game.

I agree that there is a more basic libertarian argument that gambling in general is a voluntary activity among consenting adults involving no coercion and should be permitted. The argument also applies to prostitution and drug use. But most societies reject that argument because ultimately, a lot of harm is coming to the prostitutes, drug users and gambling addicts, even if it was self-inflicted. Perhaps the government does have some duty to protect people from their worst impulses.

He got carried away with his “enterprise”, he should have kept it on the low like most people.

As a libertarian, it is civil disobedience. If you break the law, you must be prepared to face the consequences.
