Re: Kyshawn George
Ky has the makings of a very, very good two-way player. Four steals and two blocks to go along with his efficient shooting.
I’m excited about this kid’s upside.

I’d love it if he ends up as good as a healthy Porter but I don’t see him filling the same role.
He’s better than OP was at the same stage of development. Porter was abysmal as a rookie — George had tons of flashes, and on both O and D.
Otto was injured as a rookie & only played 300 minutes. How good were Ky's first 300 minutes?

His second year, Otto was already good -- if Ky improves at the same rate I'll be extremely happy!
OTOH, keep in mind that Otto Porter played 2 years of college ball. Hard to make a straight across comparison w/ Kyshawn....

Re: Kyshawn George
I was disappointed that Otto P. never developed his offensive game beyond being a good spot up shooter. He was not very good at creating plays for himself or teammates off the dribble.
Ky is already better than OP was in that respect, imo. For his career, Otto averaged 2.1 assists per 36. As a rookie, Ky averaged 3.4 assists per 36.

I just want to see him be more selective with his 3s this season. His skills inside the arc are good enough that he doesn't need to be forcing up contested 3s.

Love the bully ball drives he shows in FIBA play. Putting his shoulder on their chest to clear space and finish. He looks taller too. Like legit 6’9” not just the hair.

For me it’s the drive and dish at :45; and the strip on one end followed by the 3 on the other.

Having a strong summer:
6-8 overall. 4-6 from 3. 6 boards/5 assists/1 steal vs 3TOs. +23 for the game.

Re: Kyshawn George
Kyshawn is having an awesome summer. He is Canada's best player in this tournament, granted without SGA, RJ and Dort around.
To me, it looks like he should be our starting PF next to Bilal at SF (and Cam and Middleton off the bench).
Bilal, by the way, had a solid start to Eurobasket with 12 pts, 7 rebs and 2 impressive (and consecutive) blocks.

Yeah Bilal is even being misused in France. They swap between him and Risacher with either of them standing in the corner waiting for a shot.
The points that he makes have been off broken plays where he’s out front in the action and is able to make something happen off the dribble. Or if he can force something on a 2nd chance when his team gets an offensive board.
They’re not taking advantage of his superior athleticism, trying to pack him into a system. Catch and shoot is not his best skill set. Not when he’s shown he can blast past a defender off the dribble and finish at the rim.
I’m disappointed too that he and Sarr don’t get on court with each other to develop chemistry. But France relies on each of them as primary defenders on their line so they alternate. They’re both in similar roles. Primary all court defenders. Bodes well for our defense eventually though neither is a strong rebounder.
I’ve been impressed with the French PG Francisco. Love to bring him in for a look if we ever clear up space at guard. He blocked back to back threes in a game. Nice passing interaction with Sarr.
But yeah. Kyshawn has emerged as the undisputable leader of that young Canada squad. He definitely earned a permanent spot when SGA and all return.

Re: Kyshawn George
George i looking really good. Kudos to him. Excited to see how he plays this year. I like him more in this role - taking what the defense gives, not forcing the issue and moving the ball - than the super aggressive style he was playing in summer league.

Oof. George with one of the worst games I’ve seen out of any player. Looking like the Monstars stole his mojo:
He’s featured in basically every Argentina highlight. So timid and behind the action in defense. Weird.

Very inconsistent young man, hopefully this will change with age.

Re: Kyshawn George
Yeah the bronze medal game loss vs the USA looked similar. Disappointing after his nice start. He still was one of the MVP picks for the tournament.
