I find it hard to route for the Gints being a Redskin fan, and hard to root for the cheating Evil Empire, so I sat back and watched the game, and just was rooting for an entertaining game.

For such a low scoring defensive quagmire, it was a very exciting game. Very exciting.

I was happy to see TOm Brady sulk off of the field.

I think we all agreed the Patriots were outplayed tonight, so I don't know who your comments were directed to. Just some of us still believe that the Pats are overall a better team, as indicated by their 18-1 record. And I am not even a Pats fan.

I'm not so sure the Pats are the better team. Sure, they obvs had an amazing regular season, but they peaked early. They struggled, comparatively, down the stretch. They had several near losses and their two playoff wins were of the unconvincing variety.

Sure, if the Pats won, they'd definitely be in the GOAT discussion, but go back and look at what the '89 Niners and '85 Bears and '91 Skins and even the '92 Cowboys did. Those teams, even despite a loss or 3, dominated their opponents in the playoffs. New England seemed to limp into the playoffs, even at 16-0. Perhaps spygate or all of the "running up the score" controversy and the pressure of going undefeated took its toll.

Meanwhile, the Giants peaked when it mattered. After how many years in the league Tom Coughlin changed his management style and it worked. Big time. Eli grew up, quickly (and maybe not having Shockey's intensity on the field actually helped him relax?). Their front 7 was simply amazing last night. Strahan solidified his status as perhaps the best ever defensive lineman last night - at 36, making huge plays.

Let's just say that it wasn't the type of game that if played 10 times that the Giants would only win one. I think it'd probably be more like a 5-5 split.

I agree with JRo.

If they Giants and Pats played 10 times in week 6, the Pats win 9 or 10 of them, and win big. If they played 10 times now, I think the Giants win...well...maybe 6 or 7 of them. Now's when it counts. Look at the run they're on and who they've beaten. T.B., Dallas, Green Bay, New England (and also had them in the final regular season game) and all on the road and dominated, especially upfront, in each of them. That ain't the Little Sisters of the Poor right there.

Right now they're the best team in the league, clearly. I don't think that their's room for debate right now. That's a much better football team than I thought it was. They earned it.

Props to Antonio Pierce. I thought he was the best football player on the field last night. Dude knew everything that was coming and willed his teammates to line up right, makes plays, continue to pursue the football, and fight until the end.

It just kills me that he isn't still a Redskin. His exodus epitomizes all that has gone lost for us in the past decade... a free agent (or late round draft choice), who excels in spot roles and on special teams... He ends up as the Skins ML by default due to injuries.... has a great year, leads a defensive resurgence.... and then is allowed to walk out the door.

Antonio Pierce should have been a Redskin for life.

So true and something I know I ranted about when it happened. It's also better to keep guys that you KNOW fit into your system rather than bringing in someone to just plug in - especially when in the end you wind up paying more money for other teams free agents anyway. speaking of former Redskins who became Giants, I wonder what LaVar Arrington is thinking right now.

I like so many of the Pats, but can't stand Belichick.

I thought I saw him shake hands/hug Coughlin before the field was cleared for the last play. I can understand hating on the Hoodie, but that last play was pretty pointless.

On the topic of the thread, yes Eli did a great job. I still would have voted for someone off the Giants DL as MVP, though. This Super Bowl really showed the continuing importance of line play.

Is there not some divine justice somewhere? Belichick's arrogance prevented him from going for that long-ish field goal in the first half. Instead, he ordered Brady to go for it all on 4th down with a shot at the end zone.

And now they lose the Super Bowl and the perfect season by 3 points.

18-1. Epic. Like a Greek tragedy, where the hero's ego causes his ultimate downfall.
