If Butler's going to guard James, then Stephenson is unnecessary -- trust me when I tell you he's not going to shoot the lights out again, in fact, I am fairly sure he will regress to the 19% shooter he generally is in the playoffs by the middle of game 5. Jamison can guard Wally. Lebron would be forced to guard Butler (or Jamison) which if nothing else would tire him out, but I don't think he can guard either of them anyway. Our PG defends Gibson, Brown or whoever else they throw out there. With Wood and Blatche their offensive rebounding is neutralized and James has another shot blocker to deal with. Foul trouble could be an issue but that's a risk whether Blatche and Haywood are in at the same time or not.

This line-up creates all sorts of problems for the Cavaliers; unfortunately, I doubt we'll see it in this series.

Actually, if Arenas is out for the next game, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a little of Butler at SG. We only have a 3-man rotation in the backcourt right now since EJ apparently doesn't trust Nick Young (and I can understand why).

I don't know if you'll get that lineup with Blatche at the 4, it might be DSong. But I agree that with Jamison at SF and Butler at SG, it'll put pressure on Lebron to play D. That said, Lebron has done a pretty good job of defending Jamison in the past.

You can't start with that lineup because it takes Jamison out of the PF spot. If Jamison plays SF all game long, it leaves only Haywood, Blatche and DSong to split the 96 available minutes at PF and C. Foul trouble will probably keep Haywood and Blatche at around the 30 minute mark so DSong will have to play 36 or so minutes. It doesn't make much sense to bench Stevenson so we can play DSong 36 minutes.

It's a lineup worth trying in spurts - especially when Blatche is playing well and avoiding fouls.

From memory:

BH-- Sagitarius (Day of electrifying excitement)
AB-- Leo (Something about long-term plans something)
AJ-- Gemini (Bouyant optimism)
CB3-- Pisces (something like Destiny)
AD--Pisces/Aries cusp (I forget, 'dogged persistence' maybe?)
RM -- Virgo (Don't know, need to look that one up)
GA-- Capricorn. (Substantialization or something)

Oh and Eddie is an Aquarian: 'compassionate combatant' I think.

Wait...Page 17, scroll down.

I know we think we're brilliant when we post on this board, but we would all learn a tremendous amount from getting a chance to listen to EJ talk X&Os and lineup decisions. (I mean REALLY talk about them, not the stuff he says to reporters.) Anything he might learn from perusing our message boards would be ridiculously small in comparison to the amount of time he'd have to spend reading to find it.

An example from a Clevland columnist form last year's playoffs. I just found this again, after it was taken off Ohio.com

So you want more Xs and Os, eh?

You're rarely wrong, Kev.

If I can live in Hawaii, have three boys in track and I go to their practices, have a wife who's demanding in many ways, work 4 or 5 days a week full-time, and post as often as I do--and still believe it or not work out, swim at the beach, go to church and bible study ...

Don't tell me about EJ's time.

EJ could have a brother, son, spouse, whatever read this forum.

The players have access. You know Gil blogs and I can tell when at least one player posts here. (I think 2 or 3 do, and that not only does EJ know what's on here -- so does EG).

Kev, you've met them and been in the inner circle.

My opinion is there are people on the outside that specialize in organizational development who can surmise MORE about what's wrong with a particular organization than the one's on the inside.

I don't care about the politics or the Xs and Os. I can tell you at times EJ's got his head up his butt out there.

All of us do in whatever we do from time to time.

This board is full of good information. EJ doesn't need anymore than 10 minutes here and there of second-hand feedback about what we say here to make game adjustments.

If he's too pompous to do that let him keep his head up his butt.

In my opinion, he was a great athlete blessed with those abilities who showed something over the years to be where he is today. In an elite position. He's sharp.

Yet, he can still use what others are saying to help him.
