This guy wont be on the team next season....even if he DOES make it, he'll be nothin but a bench warmer. Nick Young, D-Mac, Opec didnt get minutes since they were new and all....This guy will be treated the same as well.

sWami, I know you've scouted VV a lot in your travels. Do you have any updated photos of him?

Yeah, hopefully Swami can provide the official update.

Last I heard he was touring with the Globetrotters (hopefully there are no scheduling conflicts this summer with the Vegas league):

He looks pretty bowlegged in that photo, so I was excited about his defensive ability until I investigated a bit further and found this photo from a recent pickup game in Hawaii:

He's not 6'11. He's listed at 2.08 meters, which converts to 6'8".

2.08 meters = 6.82414 ft
OR 6 ft and 9.88976 in

My bad, you're right, so 6'10" --though from video/pics I saw of him last year he looked same height/shorter than last year's teammate 6'9" Ademola Okulaja (Carolina). He didn't look 6'11" by any stretch.

just so happens I do. My assessment: he's acquired a little road rust overseas, but his defensive skillz are still top-notch.

I disagree. If he can show that he plays SF as well, I could see him getting decent minutes. You have to remember that he plays in the Russian Superleague against guys like Andersen and Smodys. It is not as good as the Spanish ACB but it is decent regardless. Definitely better players at that level than in college ball.

Come on guys, it must be a holiday.

I mean this is the Wiz board, right?

My idea is that since we really haven't seen him play at all, other than some clips, we flat out label him a bust, **** on EJ, use this (not sure what "this" is) as conclusive evidence that he's a bust, and package him with Pecherov, Daniels, Songolia andthe Memphis pick for Kobe or Brand.

Dame, the GM stuff is so simple Gilbert0A......cough cough.....anyone could do it.

from watching the video of him, he looks like a more athletic DSong. He's got a good jump shot, he handles fairly well for a big, and looks pretty athletic and quick for his size.

I doubt that we'll all be disappointed if he doesn't pan out though. He's a late 2nd round pick....

The Washington Post article says:

However, the 6-foot-10, 208-pound Veremeenko is under contract to Khimki and would have to negotiate a buyout in order to sign with the Wizards.

Is this really correct -- 6'10" and only 208 pounds? How can he be a power forward with that frame. In view of the previous discussion about his height in meters (2.08), I wonder if the writer confused that figure with pounds.

I thought he was about 240 pounds when he came out in the draft. NBA.com has him listed at 230. Sounds like a Radmanovic-type, which ain't bad.

Does anyone mind if I chime in and say "Whoopdeedamndoo".

Guy's a 2nd round pick who wasn't even worth bringing over for a shot when we drafted him.

I'd have to see something else that a workout vid to make me excited.

He'll be our designated enforcer come playoff time. When a guy named Vlad says, "You try to penetrate I show you some penetration!" you'd better listen. Just having him on the floor turns LeBron into a jumshooter. Plus it lets Brendan revert to his more natural happy-go-lucky-guy role.

But he hasn't exactly dominated. I'd have to agree with A43. He's a long long shot to make the rotation.
