ESPN2 to air Nick Young

Post#1 » by VAWiZKID » Thu Sep 25, 2008 1:08 am

Tonight at 10:30pm (EST), ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD will be airing "Second Chance Season", a documentary about Nick Young's triumph over tragedy through the game of basketball.

About the Documentary
Second Chance Season explores the long-term, residual effects a senseless killing can have on a single family. This documentary recounts one family’s desperate attempt to triumph over tragedy by placing all of its hopes in the basketball aspirations of its youngest son.

The centerpiece of the story is 17-year-old Nick, a two-time high school dropout who is given an eleventh hour reprieve by the school board and allowed to come back for his senior year.

Following the murder of his brother, Nick struggles to keep his family together, but his hoop dreams become a nearly unbearable burden as he realizes that only by succeeding both on and off the court with his family focus on the future and stop dwelling on its tragic past.

It was alright. Not surprisingly, one of Nick Young's biggest flaws was him being too selfish on the court and his coach called him out. The biggest hurdle for Nick Young was getting that score on the SATs; I think it's dumb to deny guys like Nick Young to go to college if they don't get a 800 on the SATs.

It had a lot interesting angles to it being as it was a documentary about his brother being shot, how one of his brothers basically lost his will to live and went to help center, and interviews of the guy who actually killed Nick Young's brother.

"Alright?" More like awesome. I remember cheering the night we drafted N.Y. Looking back, I remember being happy we added a player with loads of talent and athleticism. But I had no idea the type of person we were getting, one with drive, determination and resiliency. After watching the documentary, I have a newfound appreciation for N.Y. the person. It takes a special person to survive what he went through in spite of the weight of his entire family on his shoulders. I would recommend this documentary to not only all Wizards fans and sports fans, but to anyone.
