to rain on parades, i don't think the 'zards can even tank properly. i've read some articles that speak pretty disparagingly on the upcoming draft class. There's not as much depth in this class with good/not great talents - read: budinger. last season would've been a way better season to tank.

though i would be stoked if we tanked and picked up that aussie kid paddy mills.

To me, "tanking" and "using the opportunity to develop young players" are two different things. Tanking implies that you could be doing something different to help you win but you aren't because you actually want to lose. Developing young players, on the other hand, is a strategy born from a desire to win but in a more longterm sense.

While my posts have been negative, I've never advocated losing on purpose. But I do think that the only way any good can come out of this is if the team commits to playing the young guys. Will that mean more losses? Yes, but that's completely different than phoning it in just for better draft position.
