What puzzles me most about the Wiz is why NY1 and McGhee are not getting more minutes. NY1 is one of our best one on one players on offense he has got to get more run. There is not team offense at all everything is one on one. McGhee may make mistakes, but at least he brings a lot of energy. I can live with his mistakes for now. We also really need to find out what we have in Pech, right now I think he is not that good, but maybe if he can get some consistent run he may be at least a servicable backup ala D-Song.

The one thing that I cant get out of the back of my head is that Wes Jr. is going to be our next coach. That would be a disater, but a typical Abe Pollin move.

as long as DeShawn continues to be given hefty minutes, this team
is unwatchable. I like a lot of BobbyD's comments even though
I was not at the game. Consor is a complete tool/schill making the
radio post game worthless.

There is no sensible reason why DeShawn should be left in for 32
min while N1 got like 5 min.

There is no excuse for why this team should be this bad defensively
and on the boards. It's simply pathetic. I had hopes for Tapscott esp
after the first game. Now I have basically none.

I had formerly said that there was still hope. I still hate the idea
of tanking so I'm not about to start celebrating losses, but I no
longer have any optimism for the season.

I'm right there... on that perilous border between hope and tank.

I'm such a passionate homer, Wizards fan that watching games in hopes of losing is untenable. Yet, I am just about at the point where I can't see how we can salvage the season. We are not even competitive at this point.

If we do go into full tank mode... best thing for me is to cancel the cable, stop reading the sports section, go into the long-dark winter... and tune in again on draft day.

Watched the game and what can I say the impossible has happened, Taps is worse at subs the EJ. As for the game, everything that happened was expected, although it does seem to a degree that were starting the tank mode. I'm in favor of starting McGee, but at this point the way Taps was using him was only a detriment to his developement. I mean whats the point of starting someone if your only going to play them for the first few minutes then barely for the rest of the game. With that said I also like Blatche starting and getting 30+ minutes, yeah he didn't have a great rebounding game, but he usually does that well. Ideally both him and McGee would start, but we all know thats not happening with Taps. It was laughable having Song in at C with Foster and Nesterovic.

Can't say how much it irks me that McGee and Young are getting the shaft. It just shows Taps coaching ability or lack of it. One of the few nice things with Taps as coach is D-Mac is a least getting a consistent 10 or so minutes per, which shouldn't be that big of an accomplishment, EJ just refused to play him. Its rediculous still to see Stevenson suck and still get playing time. Hey I'll say when Stevenson plays well he can help this team, but at this point, I think a lot of it having to do with the absence of Arenas, he's terrible. Why not send him to the bench and let him slowly work himself out of it there, were it doesn't kill us as much. Songalia I still see as a detriment most of the times to this team even when he plays good, he can't rebound at all nor defend, and for some sick reason this coaching staff sees him as a 5.

Positively speaking at least it seems were going into full tank mode. Hey even if we cant get Griffin we can add a highly talented prospect with a likely top 5 pick. Blatche finally seems to be putting it together fouling less, playing smarter little by little. I loved his comments ripping his lack of rebounding, seems like he's maturing. Only hope now is McGee and Young get to see much more playing time, and D-Mac also starts to see more time, and reduce Jamison and Caron's playing times. Overall I'm not as angry as a probably should be because I see hope for the future and Taps is coaching himself out of any chances he had of taking the team over next season. Cheers to that!

I'm actually not that upset with Mcgee's limited role since Blatche is getting the bulk of the minutes. No chance mcgee and blatche get extended minutes because that means sitting Jamison. As much as you want to push for young guys playing more minutes, Butler and Jamison have to be on the court for 30-some minutes a night.

As for Young, it's irrational to not play him. it's almost as if DS has compromising photos of the entire wizards organization from Abe Pollin down to G-Wiz and is blackmailing them all. Has any of the media called him out on it? If I had access to Tapscott that would be the first question I ask and i wouldn't take Mike James's arrival as an adequate response. I'm sure it's a consensus that DS is not playing well, and there is little, if any, reason to be playing DS such heavy minutes. The rest of the rotations, I don't really have much issue with, and i do like the extended burn that Dixon is getting even though it's also at the expense of NY. At least Dixon's minutes you can defend, but every minute that DS is on the court is flabbergasting.

From the blog:
""I'm going to take a little blame for Nick's troubles," Tapscott said. "I've had him thinking a little too much. Sometimes you can stress execution, execution, execution and what that does is force a guy to start thinking about everything he does. Some guys [are] better just playing in the flow, so I gave him the release today. I told him, I'm going to play the full segment and leave you alone and let you play.""
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

The thing to keep an eye on with that is what happens the game after next if N1 doesn't play that well in his first opportunity. Say, if he gets two full ten minute stretches in the next game and finishes 2-7 with two turnovers. Would Tap let him try again the next game? That'll be what determines if this is a genuine or empty gesture.

Also: what does it say about the state of the team and the fanbase when when I tried to think of who would lose minutes to accommodate Young's potential upgrade, Dixon - our best backcourt player over the past couple of weeks - was the first name that came to mind, while Stevenson - obviously, our worst - didn't even cross it?
