I hope that day will come. Seems we have been waiting a long long time.

Point well taken. And I agree that usually you fix that problem with depth. We haven't had significant depth. Last year was the first year we had actual talent on the bench. But it's raw talent mostly. More potential than accomplishment, even at the college level. This year it's more of the same, plus the turmoil of a coach being fired, and the loss of three of last year's most key players (Haywood, Daniels, Mason) and the complete self-detonation of DeSteve.

Young players usually begin to have a real effect in their third year. Dray for instance is starting to get it, after losing a year to gunshots. Our guys played pretty significant minutes last year. This year, no. I agree we should be playing them more, but there's something going on here. Our GM has a plan, that's something I'm completely convinced about. Ernie is one of the slow careful guys. This year we're eating losses on purpose since we're capped out, with untradeable vets and have no other way to add talent. You use the opportunity of a lost season to add a great piece.

But you fix things from the worst problem to the least. The biggest problem this team had/has was not having a great HC. That is still the biggest problem. Well that and it's owner.

I'd submit our biggest problem has been health. But we're still a year away from depth to make up the difference there. I'd bet we play the rooks in patches and spot duty,, but not enough to really win much. Just experiment and nibble around the edges.

fwiw
here is the email I sent to my ticket rep yesterday

Hi Joe,

just want to express my frustration with what I see on the court

I understand there have been injuries.

But if I have to sit through one more game watching
DeShawn S get 30+ minutes of absolutely wretched play
and then see him replaced by Mike James who has no
future in this organization while Nick Young, who I
would hope does have a future here, sits, I think I'm
going to be physically ill.

Also, JaVale McGee needs more than 5-10 min per game.

Admit that the season is lost as far as making the post-season
goes. Play the youngsters and let them grow and so you can
see what you actually have.

Also playing Caron and Antawn 40+ minuntes a night is asking
for them to be injured at some point this year as well.

ps I sent the following to WTEM via their website and actually got
an acknowledge of thanks for the comments. The return email came from
Dennis Glasgow, VP of Operations.

Glen Consor should stop insulting our intelligence with
his complete "homerism". We're smarter than that. We
know garbage (Wizards play) when we see it. Trying to put a
good face on it simply makes him seem like someone who
doesn't have a clue, or is spouting the company line. In either
case, it's not worth listening to. How about some honest
journalism? No need to be unduly harsh but tell the truth.

Eh. I got the same email when I suggested Colin Cowherd sucked so bad he should siphon septic tanks for a living.

You'll get a better response if you drop a post on the blogcast during a game, DJ and Glenn are happy to answer questions and criticisms, even give you a shout out on the air.

I think Consor and Johnson do a great job on the games - they're a good combo and give a great effort. Glen is definitely a homer, but I think he believes most of what he says. He's played the game, and I think he's coached, and that probably affects his frame of reference positively in some ways, but maybe he sees the players as compared to what level he played at - and appreciates their talents too much... if that makes sense.

Cowherd - he's like a parody of everything that's bad about sports talk radio.

Let's hope ted takes over soon. I think he actually has a good concept of what holding your man below his season's scoring average means.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands
