Like I said many times before, you can't ignore history. This team, "led" by the big 3, continues to play down to their competition, still plays no D, and are still mentally and physically soft. Yes, indeed, it is time to blow this mother up. I'd rather go back to watching the Bullets teams in the 80s. They sucked, but at least they played hard and with heart for 48 minutes every game.

What really pisses me off this year is that there should be no reason that they can't get motivated to play hard every game. They had a 19 win season last year, their owner died, they already have a pathetic record despite lofty expectations, and they are getting ridiculed on National Tv by Barkely and Webber, AND THEY STILL CAN'T FIND MOTIVATION TO COME OUT AND PLAY HARD AGAINST A CRAPPY TEAM MISSING THEIR 25 PPG STAR!!! The effort that they displayed during the first half of this game was totally unexcusable. As my wife says to me over and over again, this team does not deserve me as a fan. I agree.

D10, I was a proud optimist going into this season and predicted 50 wins. Where am I, honestly? I'm devastated. I've loved this team so much, invested so much emotional energy, time and money and have basically nothing to show for it but feeling like a fool. I don't know if this experience will turn me into a more detached fan -- on the one hand I don't htink it's in my DNA, on the other I used to be passionate Skins and baseball fans and both have all but disappeared from my mind.

As an aside, isn't it ironic that the guy you were least sold on -- Blatche -- has been the most consistently good player on the team this year outside of Haywood?

Anyhow, it's really hard to look at 7-14, especially the last four, and envision how this team becomes anything more than mediocre. Not because the talent isn't there -- the whole is just somehow less than the sum of the parts.

Arenas, and I have loved a lot about the guy, is a basket case. Ironically, I think he made a comment a few years back about how unhappy Larry Hughes was since signing his mega-deal with Cleveland. How miserable has Gil been since his contract? The injury, his family/personal life in public shambles, and his confidence is completely shot. I have no ill will towards Gilbert at all, but I have a hard time seeing him being successful here.

Ernie did his best, but Dat and barely appear to have been right about his ability to assemble a contender. Once Ted gets comfortable, he probably needs to look for a forward-thinking replacement.

This really, really sucks.

Well Fisher, I feel you there. I find myself a bit numb to the suffering now, still love the franchise even if I'm not sold on our players.

But I love NBA basketball all around, so I'm still enjoying the season a great deal and have become a bit of a bandwagon, jitterbug-harlot for certain teams out west that play aesthetically pleasing ball. With the west teams, I don't need to worry about liking them as they hardly ever compete with the Zard's in any tangible way (and in fact I root for every western team to destroy the mid level Eastern teams that compete with the 'Zards).

I'm liking the Kings and Jazz actually, both fun fringe teams that don't have a real shot, but have some nice players or in the case of the Jazz, a sometimes ridiculously beautiful offense (I think they recorded about ninety open dunks on back door cuts in the half court against the Bulls in that blowout a few weeks ago). I was loving the Oden Blazers too, but they're dead to me now.

Also, when any of these teams suck on a given night, I don't have too get too emotionally involved and can just flip to another game.

So anyway, I would point out that there's still all kinds of great B-Ball being played. NBA's in a golden age as far as I'm concerned.

Real happy here in Phoenix, at least the local team is fun to watch.

Point Blank.. You don't give a player, who has had 3 knee surgeries $100M!!! You just don't do that! Also I don't understand why would you give Jamison a $30M extension. The person to blame here is Grunfield because he's in DENIAL! I bet he still believes this team is capable of winning a championship and he's probably saying "Oh, we're missing Miller". Looks like this is going to be a LONGGGG season!

On the brightside, if you take away the free throws, Gilbert actually is getting better as the season progresses.

His numbers so far in December-

22ppg, 8.2 apg, 4.7 rpg, 43% FG, 2.8 To's

These numbers are including an eight point stinker against Detroit where he only took 9 shots. If you take that game out he's averaging 25ppg. 2.8 turnovers stands out, as he was highly turnover prone to start the season.

The freethrows have been a disaster. The question is, do we believe that's going to last forever? Did Gilbert suddenly become a 70% freethrow shooter, or is it just a mental thing he has to overcome? I believe the latter.

Put this all in perspective, this is the second month of Gil's comeback after a two year layoff. Who knows where he will be by February-March?

I'm actually confident that Gilbert will not only get better, but by next season will be completely back to his old self. I'm not saying any of that excuses his defense, but at his very best his offense will make up for it if we surround him with the right players.

Thanks for that small bit of optimism Shanghai. You make a good point. Arenas has actually played well lately and has posted some positive on/off differentials to prove it. (He was +6 last night, +0 against Boston, and +4 against Detroit). Prior to those three games, his on/off differential for the season was an unbelievably bad -15 per 100 possessions.

At the very least, there is some hope that Arenas can return to some semblance of his former self. Given the difficulties in unloading his contract, we basically have no hope of contending unless he does so.

I couldn't believe my eyes after watching the highlights... We suck and didn't deserve to win this... They we're playing without their 25ppg allstar and on the road... And they aren't even that good od a team...

As much as I hate saying this, Flip is slowly losing my respect by still starting and playing AJ and CB too much, let them make mistake after mistake and not having Nick and 7DD play enough...

I'm still willing to give Gil a pass, since he hasn't played for a while and he wasn't the toughest guy mentally anyway... Even though he couldn't win us these 2 last games b/c of his anti-clutchness, I'd like him to step up on D if anything... FT's are mental, D is just effort...

I don't even know what more to say at this moment... Don't even feel like watching these wasteful people... ugh...

On the brightside you guys are still in the playoff race...

At the end of the season the Raptors will probably have the 6th seed, Wizards 7th... and we'll both lose in 5. Ah the life of an underachieving soft 3 pter team... : / Here's to 2010-2020 for two teams who can't shake each other or "the middle"
