I think what would add a lot of flair to the game, Monte, is if we had a continuous close up feed of Flip's face in the upper right hand corner of the screen and they could enlarge it after plays like Young's fast-break 4th quarter behind the back dribble in traffic. That would be a big ratings win methinks.

I wonder if Flip still has water in that bottle of his or if he's gone over to the hard stuff yet? Maybe he's waiting for the 40 game mark?

Saunders show of displeasure is one thing I continue to like about him. Spoiled pro athletes are like kids; they can't seem to see where they are wrong and trying to change their ways through tough love can be exhausting. For all I know, Jamison was in at the end not because of any strategic decision (or lack thereof) but because, despite Saunders pulling him from games and essentially calling him out, Jamison has not really relented or shown contrition, and like an intractable, spoiled child, he sometimes gets his way.

Still, the contrast between Saunders constant and demonstrative shows of displeasure and Jordan's occasional discreet eye rolls is dramatic. Some people thought the team wouldn't respond well to a hard ass, and maybe that's true, but they should have played better with the old softy. I'd like to see Saunders get really hard ass, find out which ones are capable of change, and replace the rest with expirings and young people that haven't been ruined by their own egos.

Yep.

That and Flip just needs to shorten the rotation, taking it 5 games at a time.

We need elton brand people plain and simple. Should have signed him instead of crappy jamison. Elton even got out of hid contract to sign with us and arenas and grunfeld blew it with their low bball iq.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

We found another way to lose, good job guys. This team is awful and has no killer instinct. They wilt so easily. I can't believe I'm actually going to the OKC game tonight.

Flip stayed with Boykins too long. Earl was AWFUL last night. Foye was playing really well and then he gets yanked for most of the game because of two fouls. What happened when Flip put him back in? Surprise! We go on a 10 - 0 run to tie the game. Flip needs to trust him more.

Really, it was an exercise in trying to predict how the game would be blown. Arenas misses an easy layup (he missed a few), failing to capitalize on a turnover. Arenas misses the most important FT (again). Young gets the turnover and runs, and he can't hear me yelling "pass the ball" but he must see that he's not the only one on the fast break but he just barrels forward with that "this bucket's mine" look, straight into the turnover.

Actually, it wasn't a turnover. The ball ended up bouncing out of bounds and they ended up giving it to the Wizards (though it looked like it bounced off Nick).

Layups, Fastbreaks, Easy Shots, and IQ

Its like when it rains, it pours. If there is an even situation for both teams, we never come out on top. Even when its in our favor, we arent coming out on top right now. We are getting no easy baskets. Even when plays are there, we cant make them. There have been like 5 plays every game where you are sure that its an easy layup for us but we either miss it, get fouled with a no call, we get blocked, or a defender strips us like we are stupid. That crap is so frustrating. Then its always magnified because it usually ends up in a layup going the other way or a wide open 3. An instant 4 or 5 point swing that always kills us.

Then, what happened to our fast break. We were always like the most explosive team in the league and now we never get anything in transition. Gil doesnt take off as much anymore. He moreso wants to just scan the D instead of pushing it hard but he's starting to move faster with it. We should be getting alot more fast break oppurtunities with the guys we have. We have Gil & Earl with the rock and athletic guys on the wings. Foye is like the only guy who tries to get something in transition on the regular.

The bottom line is we need some more easy shots. Im glad we are finally coming around in this Offense because I was really starting to get worried that it doesnt fit with our guys but it still seems like what the Pistons fans told me about it doesnt work in the playoffs because its designed for all jump shots. Its seems hard for our guys to get to the rim. Its like too halfcourt and too deliberate at times. Then Gil is pretty much always at the top of the key so its easier to design a D to shut the lane down on him. In EJ's system, Gil would be on top and on the wings and everyone else would be in constant movement with alot of quick hitting plays.

This system is just so deliberate and then we have so many guys with scorers mentality that if you run a play for them, they automaticaly shoot it no matter what. That makes me so mad. Im always screaming that just because they ran it for you doesnt mean you have to instantly take the shot. If its not there then dont force it. Our guys B-Ball IQ is too low. Im glad Flip is getting on them about it where EJ didnt and I think Miller has a super high IQ so he will help but we have to make smarter decisions and make the extra pass. There are so many plays when I see a guy wide open calling for it but the guy with the ball tries to do it on his own because they have that scorers mentality.

I can see a bunch of talk later on in the year people saying that "remember when we were actually talking about blowing it up and trading Gil for T-Mac. How dumb would that have been? 30 games really wasnt that much considering all the factors. We shouldve seen it coming".

We have to be patient. How can people want to trade Gil the way he is playing right now. He's 2 years away from the game and in only 30 games he is playing very well right now in a brand new system. Imagine where he will be at the end of the season and this time next year for that matter. Then you want to throw in McGee? I could see us letting Wood go in the offseason and letting McGee be the starter

Or offense is just so ugly to watch; there is absolutely no ball movement. It consists of one pass (from the point guard) and then a shot attempt. The main culprit is Jamison. At that position we need someone who gets the ball moving a bit, can hit a open jump shot, and play some defense. Sounds a lot like Andray Blatche. He had two beautiful passes last night (I think in a row) to an open man under the hoop. That type of ball movement got me out of seat it made me so happy. The Wizards need to bring Jamison off the bench and start Andray. If Jamison doesn't like that, trade him for cap relief and a little front court depth. Put me on boat for a Jamison and Hickson + Big Z swap.

There was one play in particular last night that really stuck with me. I think it was the first quarter but it might have been the second but anyways, Haywood received the ball on the elbow and immediately turned and fired an awful jumper. Even Chenier made a comment about how this stupid team just shoots the ball when they get it to make sure they get their own. It really has been awful watching this team play like a bunch of spoiled brats without a lick of basketball IQ or resolve. Blow it up, tank (or just continue playing like we have been), and pray for Wall.

Yup. The talent is there. The IQ, unselfishness, and heart are not.
