Mike Lee Twitter....

Gilbert Arenas spotted at VC, getting in a photo op & some [quality time] with prospective owner Ted Leonsis as Greivis Vasquez worked out for Wizards

I'd say the odds are pretty slim that they were discussing a buyout.

just re-watched Gil's last game of the season this morning.
We beat PHL without Haywood in case anyone forgot. After
being down by 18 early in the 3rd.

Gil had a bad shooting night but a VERY solid game overall
including a couple of nice defensive plays. N1 also shined
in this game although we were led in scoring by AJ.

Gil and Wall are going to fine together although I'm
betting that at least at first, Wall may need to have
the ball more than Gil. A G rotation of Gil, Wall and N1
with possibly SL or one of the draftees discussed should
be better than adequate.

We need a C to complement JM (Haywood?).

We need a defensive 3 that can hit open shots.

We need a backup for dray (Singleton?).

We can probably do all those things without
breaking the bank.

Gil isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Maybe he was picking up his last paycheck.

Bullet's Forver now has this grainy pin-hole camera shot up with Gil and Ernie both being present....

It doesn't look like they're holding hands, but I hadn't heard definitively that they had met until seeing this.

Ted's kinda got a Godfather look in that one.

If the information in the Washington Post this evening about the Grevis Vasquez visit is true, Arenas is not going anywhere. He was present in watching the rookies with Ernie and Ted.

I guess we can make all the trade Gil, buyout Gill, release Gill crap go away.

The guy is being active with the team and will be our SG next year

Buyout! We don't need no stinking buyout! We got us a bonifide mensch who knows how to lead and motivate owning up this team.

Case in point, here's a much more revealing moment to enjoy from the pic posted above.

Ladies and Gents, I have NEVER been more confident about the future of our beloved Wizards. Mister Polin has left our team in extraordinarily capable hands and we owe him a great deal for having done so. Just compare this transition to the mess, that until recently, has been the post-Cooke Redskins.
To be a Wizards fan
1. You are either a semi-commited part time fan who says meh after a loss.
2. or you have a traumatic brain injury and watch the games without understanding them.
3. or you are willing to annually have your dreams torn from your soul.

Wow, I made a post about what happens if we buy him out and how that is handled financially, not whether we would or would not. I just saw a report on buying him out, and was wondering on whim what kind of salary impact that would have over the coming years of his contract.

I do like the idea of him having playing at the 2 where he is much more free to move around and leave the ball handling duties to John Wall.

I also think that we should sign a big man, and add depth through the draft. I don't think we should resign Singleton, the guy couldn't finish around the rim. Rather, I like the idea of resigning either Howard or Miller to man the 3. Miller is much more of a facilitator so I prefer him, but Josh Howard brings more offensive punch since he can make shots off the dribble. We can definitely field a very solid squad if we can get a big man in the middle. Obviously if we have a chance at a big name free agent, go for it, but I don't know if we do have a shot at them.

Singleton is a little bit of a liability offensively. However he plays hard and rebounds well. At the right price I think he provides some toughness to balance out the finesse games of Blatche and McGee. Yeah it would be great to have a guy like Oakley or Kurt Thomas reasonably near their prime to fill that role, but I don't really see anyone available that fits that role.

At roughly the same money, I would also prefer Miller. I think they could use Miller's long range shooting and passing. Also if there are issues with a Wall/Arenas backcourt, Miller would be better at filling in at SG than Howard. However I think Howard may be willing to accept a shorter/cheaper deal because of his injury situation.
