It was mentioned in a previous thread though that there are really a limited amount of players you feel comforable with playing in an NBA game. To me the list of active guys is Wall, Blatche, McGee, Hinrich...and then it gets a bit hazy with Yi and Young. That's a very limited list which is why the team needs some NBA ready now guys just to stay competitive. Hence why I like Jeffers. He can play in an NBA game and take up minutes at the wing so we don't have to watch Al Thornton for extensive minutes etc and have guys like Hollinger point out how we have the lowest bball IQ in the league.

The Pacers tried to trade Jones to clear a roster spot for Magnum Rolle last month, and they're expected to continue to try to get him moved. "I'm a basketball player and I'll always be a basketball player," Jones said. "You will never call me a shooter. I just play basketball. I don't take it as a negative that I'm not a shooter. "I just play hard and hope what I bring to the table will be useful to the team." Indianapolis Star

Pacers still trying to clear a spot to get Rolle back, swoop-in Ernie and nab him Spurs-like :D

I don't like the idea of cutting bigs when we have what seems like a superfluous combo guard with Hudson on the roster.

I think the Wizards need to see Arenas healthy and productive before cutting Hudson loose. They would be down to 1 PG if there was an injury and don't really have a point forward type to play with 2 guards who are more SGs.

Re-named this thread for all "who to pick up" talk. Saw this on WireTap:

Former Nets forward Josh Boone is hoping to make a return to the NBA.

He'd probably be an upgrade for us on the boards (averaged about 5 boards per game in 17.5 minutes over his 4 seasons).

I'd cut Yi or HA to get Boone. Although he's one ugly dude.

Boone would instantly be our best backup big man.

I propose that we cut Lester or Hamady and sign Scottie Reynolds to a couple of 10-day contracts, he's better than Lester and he may become a suitable back-up PG. Reynolds played well for the Suns in SL and he may have gotten a roster spot had there been one. I think It would be prudent to put Gil on the back-burner for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately there's probably 30-40 bigs in the NBDL, overseas or off the street that we could sign who would immediately come in and be our best backup big.

But at least our backups are a lottery pick and a couple of past 1st rounders, because we all know that's what really counts.

Boone, Zoubek, Dampier, Earl Barron, ANYONE?!?!?

We really need a better backup center and potentially PF (if Yi continues to suck). This is coming from a former Armstrong fan too.

Think Danny Fortson would be willing to come back? Perfect mentor for Seraphin. He's only 34, just sayin'...
