Gil. I'm am so very happy to see him playing well, but even more so because of his post game quotes. He really seems to be enjoying himself again, which is great to see.

Kirk-played a very good all round game. Yea, he dribbles a lot at times, but I don't really understand why it was considered a bad thing for this gamet. He had 11(?) assists, did not take many shots, and when the team as a whole has assists in the high 20s, it's hard to complain that he was "dominating" the ball. Marbury and Franchise used to dominate the ball, and lets just say their teams hardly ever had assists in the high 20s. Great game for Kirk. I thought his defense looked better than it has all season, too.

McGee-He seems to be starting to figure things out a little bit. He is focusing on defense and rebounding, which is great, and I thought his rotation were improved, and he also stayed on his feet (!) often, and even changed and blocked a few shots without leaving his feet. Good for him.

Gilbert - the team fed off of him and he keyed the big runs.
Hilton - good energy, found the holes in the middle of the lane
Kirk - good stat line, played very well with arenas out there
Until Grunfeld goes there is no rebuild.

1.) Gil: Good catch and shoot action, hit some key shots to fuel our 3rd quarter outburst.
2.) Kirk: Took good shots, keep the ball moving.
3.) Blatche: Took it to the rack, most of his shots were on the interior, which was great to see.

this is what I expected from a GIL-Hinrich back court.

When hinrich plays with an aggressive true SG like Gil that will play off the ball (not sure if Gil did that but it looks like he did from the box score) and look for his shot you can expect a game similar to this from Kirk. Which is not in the Paul, Deron, wall calibre but in the next tier down. And then Kirk gives you the defense on the other side. This is how you maximize kirk...build his trade value, whatever. Play him at PG and let him distribute all game long. He can generally average 7 assists and give you the occaisional 10 plus assist game in a conservative offense. If you have finishers and shooters around him he can easily average 10 assists per game. The Bulls only really had Ben Gordon during the Hinrich era which is why he averaged sub 7 assists. Then Kirk will hit a few 3's and 2 as well. In the paint Kirk is relatively useless which take shim out of the Paul, Wall, Deron conversation.

Looks like Gil had a game where he came out and played his role. That's what you want from him. If he finally grows up on the court and takes shots within th eoffense he is a real weapon and probably a thing of beauty to watch...he can easily get his efficiency way up there. And Gil can still creat for others in a Kobe type way so you get some playmaking to go with it.

it would be interesting to see Wall out for 4-5 games and let this Hinrich-Gil backcourt get into a groove. Then When you bring wall back find a role for everyone.

great game by blatche. There is no reason why he cant do this often.

And with these 3 guys plus WALL you really have everything you need sans the Role playing defensive Center that take sno sheot in the paint. that is all the Wizards need to play .500 ball and get into the playoff hunt and scare the sheot out of Boston in round 1.

the problem with hinrich (over) dribbling is that he seems to always be on the perimeter when doing so waiting for guys to cut, move, post, curl, whatever. that's fine and dandy but at some point you need to be the guy that gets into the paint...get more aggressive, draw a defender or 2 a la steve nash and then dish. kirk never evolved that part of his game...if and or when he decides to take it into the paint it will generally result in an ill advised shot attempt (that will prolly get blocked) or a desperation pass. he never developed that comfort zone in proximity in the paint like Nash has done so he pounds th eball on the perimeter waiting for other.

If you put Kirk on today's Lakers or heat he would literally be the perfect weapon because the whole rest of the team will get open and do their thing.

What do you guys think we should do defensively in the backcourt if Gil starts, no matter if the other guy is Wall or Kirk? I hear alot of people saying they would want Wall or Kirk on Rondo and I can understand that but Gil's been a pretty good defender this year and he's always hated chasing guys off screens. He hates it on both ends. I dont want him having to chase Allen.

I say either put Gil on Rondo or play Zone. Do that atleast until Rondo starts to kill us. Even if he does start to kill us it may be a blessing because Gil loves challanges. If Rondo starts to play great then I think Gil will go right back at him
