Re: Official Countdown to Fire Buckhantz and Chenier
I like Buck and Phil. They are institutions and I like that they are homers. Plus, they are probably two of the nicest guys you will ever meet. My wife and I went down after a game and asked Phil for an autograph and both Phil and Buck spent a good 10-15 minutes talking to both of us.
As for them breaking the game down, I don't need someone to do that for me when I have two good eyes to watch the game.
My lone criticism of the Comcast broadcasts is that they continually span to the crowd or players on the bench, or put up a display, when the ball is in play.

WTF does that even mean "one plus the penalty"? Just say they'll shoot two free throws...
Still love him though.
Man, I must be old.
"One plus the penalty" is a throwback phrase. Back in the old days, if a team committed a shooting foul while in the penalty (after having committed 5 team fouls), the other team got three free throws, or rather, they had three chances to make two free throws (once they made the second, it was side out for the defending team). Announcers would call it: "two plus the penalty". I think Buck says that as an homage to the old days. They eliminated that rule in 1981.
Not exactly. According to the rule book, there's one free throw attempt awarded for committing a defensive non-shooting foul plus a penalty free throw attempt.
What you're refering to here is the 3 to make 2 rule (and 2 to make 1), which was thankfully short-lived.
