The Amazingly Sucky ZigTech Slash

I remember we had a discussion on the ZigTech Slash shoes that John Wall wears in another thread but I can't remember which thread it was. I wanted to post this in that thread but since I can't find it I decided to just make a new one.

Kobe Bryant on what advice he'd give John Wall, who will miss his 8th game of the season because of injury 2night vs. LAL: "Buy Nikes."

It seems that Kobe agrees that the ZigTech's aren't very good basketball shoes.

Now, I have never worn the shoes but I have seen them at stores. If someone has worn them or know's somebody who has please share your experiences. The main problem I have with the shoe is the wasted surface area on the bottoms of the shoes. Less surface area means less traction. To compound this design flaw, the bottoms are very rubbery feeling - as if they slide off the ground.

However, it should be noted that Danillo Galinari wears these shoes and he's been fine. But he also doesn't slash nearly as much or as fast as John Wall. It seems that Wall often ends up sliding onto the floor when he penetrates. I barely watch college basketball, but from the 2-3 Kentucky games I saw I do not remember John Wall on the floor as much as he is in the NBA with the new sneaks.

So, what do you all think?

Completely agree. I originally made a post about this in a game thread, can look around to find it later, but yes, if you use basic physics you can see why the zigslash is a flawed concept.

PS - Thanks Chris Miller

Sole Collector will apparently publish a performance review of the Zig Slash over the next week or so.

Oh, and here's an amateur's performance review:

A little rambling (I prefer Sole Collector's "Kicksology" section), but a generally negative review.

Someone I know emailed Ted about the Zigtech's being a problem. Ted had told him that Wall was working with Reebok to fix the issue. I'm guessing Wall got out of whatever obligation he had for wearing these awful shoes.
