John Wall's New Signature Shoe for next season

Post#1 » by ST21 » Fri May 6, 2011 1:59 am

With the departure of Allen Iverson and Yao Ming shelved by injury, Reebok Basketball turned their attention to incoming Kentucky point guard John Wall to get their foot back in the hoops door last summer. They signed Wall to a reported 5-year deal that would include at least two signature shoes after his rookie campaign. Drafted number one overall by the Washington Wizards, Wall spent majority of his first year wearing the Reebok Zig Slash in several Wizards-themed colorways. For his sophomore season, John Wall will be lacing up his first official signature shoe - the Reebok Zig Encore.

The Zig Encore doesn't divert much from the Zig Slash in terms of design concept. Zig Technology makes a return in slightly less bulky fashion on the outsole. The upper sports a layered synthetic build, with perforations along the toebox and medial heel. The Vector logo is prominently displayed on the side panels, while Wall's personal logo appears on the tongue. The collar of the right shoe features a mock John Wall signature, the left reads 'Humble and Hungry,' a motto Wall lives by. Look for these to drop sometime this fall.

Let us know what you think about Wall's first signature shoe and stick with Sole Collector for continued updates.

Hopefully he isnt rolling his ankles because of these death-traps again.

Is there even a scientific basis for the Zig design being beneficial? Or is it just supposed to look cool?

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

They actually have visible tread on the soles this time around, which is a nice "innovation" for a basketball shoe.

Either Nike or Adidas would've been preferable; those two companies actually focus on shoe performance.

And, considering that Adidas owns Reebok now, being on Reebok is the equivalent of being on Nike's Converse brand: a lesser legacy brand that gets red-headed stepchild treatment from the R&D division.
