Williams heard that feedback loud and clear from NBA scouts when he decided to leave school and he's spent the past six weeks in Vegas working on his body. The results are pretty impressive, as you can see here in this photo I tweeted Tuesday. He's lost 10 pounds, dropped from 13 percent body fat to 8 percent and really hasn't lost any strength but has gained quickness, explosiveness and agility in the process. He's also improved his jump shot over the course of the past six weeks as well. Williams might be slightly undersized for a center (he measured 6-8 3/4 in socks, 6-10 in shoes at Impact), but he's got a 6-11½ wingspan, is physical and is a proven commodity on the boards.

So at 6"9 -6"10 250, Jordan would be comparable to Kris Humpries +10-15 Lbs. We need a rebounder, but Willam's isn't a fit right now unless he drops to our 2nd round pick.....highly unlikely.

That's an interesting comparison - since Humphries was an offensive-minded player in college where he put up big numbers. It took him something like 7 years in the NBA to become what he is - a banger who concentrates on doing the dirty work moreso than scoring. How long will it take for Williams to realize that he's never going to be a 20/10 guy in the NBA, so he has to concentrate on being the guy who does the dirty work and play defense? Gotta be very impressed by how Jordan changed his body so quickly.

It's not that impressive to me what anybody does over a short period of time when they're trying to get paid. What's impressive to me is when a player keeps doing those things AFTER they get paid. If Williams was so driven, he could have been working out a lot harder during his time at Maryland.

I agree, Thinker. If anything this is a warning flag - work ethic is a very important part of overall talent.

I disagree in this case with you and Thinker simply because - he did work hard his whole time at Maryland. You guys would know that if you saw his freshman year. He was a 282 lbs of baby fat when he came to campus. He got down to 260 LAST offseason. We're talking about a guy who wasn't considered a prospect coming out of HS and has made himself a 1st round pick through 2 years of hard work. Now, did he show that work ethic with his school work? Apparently, hell no. But I don't think that's a red flag as far as his NBA potential.

+1 Hard work made Williams 2nd only to Kenneth Faried in rebounding, the evidence to-date is exactly the opposite of what Illuminaire and Thinker wrote.

Not putting Williams in the same category, but a lot of the same stuff about his fitness could be said about Charles Barkley coming out of college.

As for Williams, I don't watch much college hoops, but when I saw him play a couple times last year, I was impressed. Not overwhelmed, but I thought he was a very good college player with enough ability to be a good pro.

I meant no offense to Williams and his fans. I'm not saying how good of a player Williams is or how hard of a worker - frankly I didn't follow his career at Maryland too much. My point was simply that guys busting their butts in the couple of months prior to the draft isn't much of an indicator to me.
