Captain obvious: we can't win when our defense is this bad. Terrible rotations and lazy bailout.

Capt also says we'll struggle when our starting backcourt shoots
poorly. We'll beat a lot of teams when Nick shoots 7-8 from 3.
Obviously, no one can shoot that well on a consistent basis.

If Nick stopped dribble around to no where and focused on catch and shoot like Flip was training him, those number are with in his reach.

Even last night he was on target when he did that. Nick problem is that he is not good at decision making. That makes his dribbling moves below average. He has some things he can do off the dribble. There is the quick step back between the legs. Or if he has a clear path to the basket, he can get there and finish. But he has no moves like a Wade who can play almost like a PG. That is where Nick get in trouble. That leads to his turnovers or forced shots.

On this team that is a problem because Singleton, Booker and McGee don't have good handles. So something in the make up of the team needs to change. They need a better ball handling SG and or SF. They need someone who can create and score at least one of those positions. At a bare min, they need a SF who can shoot from outside.

Batum would be perfect for this team. Or a Kevin Martin. Or Mason Brook

Anyone catch the play where Blake fouled Wall and held on to him for too long? I loved it!! Wall gave him the death stare and was visibly jawing with him. He appeared completely annoyed with Blake's act. Blake is very much taking the Lebron route. Slutting himself out early in his career to to the NBA, BSPN, and lame choirs, but Wall aint having none of it! I think Wall is going to go East Coast Assassin for the rest of the season, it should be fun to watch.

Oh yeah. He is well on his way to dethroning the queen eventually.

7-8 from 3 during actual games is not available to anyone on a consistent
basis, no matter how much they follow a coach's training regimen. As Kev
posted, that game was a major outlier from a statistical viewpoint. 7-8
from 3 for a player was a major contributing factor to that outlier status.

Actually, Hands is half-right. Nick is a better catch-and-shoot shooter than he is when he's forced to dribble amd make decisions. Of course, no one is going to shoot 7-8 (or even 6-8) from three point range on a regular basis.

well I can't think of many players who are better from 3
off the bounce so yeah, Nick, like most, is better as a catch and shoot
guy. I simply wanted to point out the hyperbole in saying
he would shoot like he did vs POR if he would only do...(fill in the blank).
Ain't happening. Appreciate that it happened but let's not
even begin to think that it's going to happen more than
a couple times a season at best. It's a major outlier.

Nick's current and career 3 pt % is 38.5%. He is a good shooter in spite of the fact that he takes a lot of tough, contested shots. If he was on a good team where he wasn't the first or second option i think he would shoot well over 40% from 3.
