While I'd agree that he is doing good things for that team and he is producing (after a couple of terrible games) for a winner. If he was in John's role, we'd be worse off than we are now. We'd not only be terrible, but we'd have no future.

I think you're overstating Gil's ability to impact games.

But he's not in Wall's role nor is he being compared to that right now. All Arenas has been asked to do so far is to make plays to win games in Memphis and he is doing that for them. Quite frankly, I'm not so sure that the Wizards wouldn't have more wins today if Arenas was still the "franchise PG" for this poor team.

Of course, that's the point. If our franchise cornerstone was 30 years old and had a bum knee, that wouldn't be much of a strategy, would it?

I agree Arenas, so far, has done well in the role he was asked to do. And I agree, I'm glad our cornerstone isn't a 30 year old with a bum knee. And I love Arenas for what he did and I hope he helps the Grizz go far, even win a championship.

But I disagree with one point you wrote in that paragraph. If Arenas was our 1st option, sans Wall, that we'd have more than 12 wins right now. Wall is obviously a much better option as a cornerstone and he is a better 1st or 2nd option now than Arenas would be currently.
