The Best Ive Felt In This City In Years

Post#1 » by dlts20 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 3:28 am

merge this thread somewhere else if it doesnt fit. Living in this area is the worst when it comes to sports. All the major sports teams suck every year and if they are good, they usually end the season very dissapointing.

The Wiz have sucked this year but the end to the season, the guys who stepped up, the winning streak, & clinching a top 5 pick in a deep draft makes me feel the best Ive felt about this team in years. For the 1st time I truly believe we are getting close. All the other teams have been wishing and hoping about 40 different things fall into place. Now we are close. Very close.

The O's are in 1st place right now. The O's. The Nats have the best record in the whole league & Strasburg is a stud who is back healthy & killin it. To add to it, they still have Harper on deck.

Alot of people are picking the Ravens to compete for the SB this year while my Skins finally got a Franchise QB for the 1st time in a hundred years. Not only a Franchise QB but a truly exciting player. Alot of times these guys are good but boring. Other times they are exciting but just average players. RG3 combines both. He still has to prove it but as of now, it makes you feel great.

The Caps have been one of the best teams in Hockey the last few years only to stink up the joint. Now after a bad season in which it looked like they may not even make the playoffs and the 2nd biggest star in the NFL taking huge steps back in some people eyes, they end the season hot, and in OT knock off the #2 seed who are the defending Champs in a game 7 on the road with a rookie Goalie outplaying Thomas. What? Not to mention the game winner was scored by a black guy. (sorry, I couldnt resist)..........lol

If Im forgetting anything, feel free to let me know. Man life is great right now. Its usually so depressing being a fan of our teams and flipping through the channels only to find a worst team then you were just watching on another channel. Now Im going from channel to channel with all good things happening to our teams. Awesome...........lol

Caps and Nats are contenders. Skins are on the way back with a franchise QB. Wiz are still way behind but if they get Unibrow, who knows....
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

So what. If the Wiz win 30 games, thats like winning the NBA title from what weve seen the last few years. I think they could get in the playoffs next year and be on there way. You have to start somewhere and I feel like we're moving up

This week was one of the better weeks in DC pro sports, in recent memory. I actually felt...good about all my teams for once. In addition to the pro teams, I love what Maryland is doing under Turgeon, they'll be back into the national spotlight real quick I think.

Why not? Washington has Strasburg, Robert Griffin III, John Wall, Ovechkin--I'm not a hockey fan, but they've apparently got a good young goalie, too. The Terps are heading in the right direction. Even in football UMCP added new coordinators on both sides of the ball and they have a blue chip recruit.

Why couldn't Anthony Davis come to the Wizards? DC is due.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

As I type this I'm staring at th O's and Ravens logo on the 'regional' ribbon, but Baltimore isn't DC. I just want to make sure thats mentioned. If a basketball or hockey team ever goes to Baltimore they'll ditch the Wiz/Caps like they did with the Skins. The hot start of the O's is irrelevant to DC.

I wonder if Joel Ward and Jan Vesely hang out together? Seems like they might have a lot in common...

I disagree with this. I've been an Orioles fan since I was a small kid in the late 80's and early 90's. I can't just drop my squad just because the Expos came to town. Do I root for the Nats? Absolutely! Do I love Strasburg? Absolutely. But I still follow Adam Jones, Nick Markakis, Matt Wieters, Jim Johnson, Jake Arreita, Brain Matusz, etc. And especially can't wait for Dylan Bundy and Manny Machada to arrive in the big leagues.

So i say all that to say this, I'm loving life right now that the O's are in first place at the end of April. Of course it probably won't last but we've been terrible for years and always have a 10 game losing streak right off the bat. So for me, it's go O's.

Now the Raven's can suck it! Skins all the way!
Just let the young boys play! It's truly the only hope at this point.

We got Wall, CCJ. Don't be greedy.

I'm not going to predict it or anything but I wouldn't be terribly surprised, either, if the zards had a 50 win season next year. Depends on whether Nene and Booker can get over their plantar fasciitis (probably not) and how well the draft pick plays, assuming it's not unibrow.

Yeah I grew up in suburban Maryland and rooted for the Skins, Caps, Bullets and O's. The Nats are Johnny-come-latelies. I'd rather stick with the O's... even if they do (mostly) stink.
