Mystics had 44% chance to land Griner, get 4th pick

Post#1 » by Rafael122 » Thu Sep 27, 2012 12:42 am

Welp. Just like the title said, they fell to 4. It's a 3 woman draft and the Mystics hold the 4th pick. Of course.

I'm devastated.

There goes the attendance title.

Hey, I'm not gonna lie, I thought if the Mystics got Griner, they would at least be somewhat relevant and add another person to that young athletes rushmore the local teams seem to be building.

This is a disaster. :banghead:

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

The curse knows not gender.

Washington team gets 4th pick in a 3-player draft. Yawn.

They would have had Griner from Baylor to join her friend RG3, another Baylor product. It would have been a media boon.

Now, the Mystics may as well dissolve as far as I am concerned. The only thing I can say about the Mystics is that Alana Beard is doing great in LA with the Sparks. I think the curse extends to the Mystics. Aisha Jones is great with Connecticut. Delisha Milton's had a great career with the Sparks. They also had a C, Taj McWilliams, that was mediocre with the Mystics before winning titles with Detoit and Minnesota.

No Griner means the Mystics might as well shut down IMO.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

It's just funny because, for as much as I've followed the Mystics this season (and it hasn't been much) they were clearly tanking. They were very obviously looking long-term. While I'm sure they weren't 100% sure they'd get Griner, they knew a top-3 pick was a certainty. I'm with CCJ at this point. Hang em' up, Mystics.

I don't know why the WNBA has a lottery. But that's just me. Mystics got royally screwed here but that's the system they have in place. The reaction on Sheila Johnson's face said it all.

The conspiracy theorist in me says that the WNBA (a league that's on life support provided by the NBA) purposefully gave Phoenix the 1st pick knowing that they're already a championship-caliber team that just happened to have an entire season without Turasi, Taylor and Dupree (all All-Stars). With Griner next season, they're going to be unstoppable and very marketable.

I totally forgot that the lottery was happening yesterday. The curse lives!
