I think the Wizards should change their name to the Beavers in honor of that family of Beavers that was chomping down all the cherry blossom trees a decade ago.
Viva le tank! At this pace, it will never end.

On second thought, I think you just described G wiz.

Shoulda taken Jazz back from Utah. No team based in Salt Lake City has any business calling itself Jazz.
Nor LA the Lakers.

I believe three or four of us have independently come to the name "DC Justice" as the coolest name possible to represent our city. But, I have since discovered a more menacing name. Just as New Jersey has embraced the Jersey Devil, and similar to my advocation for NYC teams called C.H.U.D. (canibalistic human underground dweller) and sewer crocodiles, I believe we need a mascot that represents the scariest animal to ever inhabit DC (not named Marion Barry) -- The toxic, intersex snakehead. You can throw a hermaphroditic in there to make it the DC T.H.I.S.
Richard Justice, former Wiz beat writer for the Post suggested it at the time leading
up to the change. I kinda liked it. Not happening though.

I think the DC CABIN JOHNS would be kind of cool. It is pretty uniquely DC/MD. You could use the bridge as the centerpiece of the logo and work a D, a C, and J into it.
Plus the term "Cabin John" would have some obvious, intriguing, and perhaps strangely appropriate connotations to it.
Which, sadly, eliminate it immediately from serious consideration from Ted and his crew.

I beg to differ.
