And they whiffed on the derecho, too. Power was out by the time they bothered mentioning it.

Yup, it was too warm to have any serious accumulation. Gotsta wonder why the weather pros missed it.

all the models had a major snow last night with temps getting down to 32 degrees for most of the storm. With 32 degrees and good dynamics, it would be enough in March.

but the temps were a bit higher than models suggested and it made all the difference in the world unless you were in Western Loudoun and Shen Valley

You're asking us? C'mon you're the expert. Please tell us that it'll too warm for the precip to stick. I need to get out and about this week. As they say in French - Neau sneau, s'il vous plait.

That's from the bottom of page 2. I even said please. :wavefinger:

Seriously....and then they overreacted to Sandy (in this area) saying it'd be worse than the derecho....

It'd almost be better to just not know anything and be surprised by the snow. I recall one year, maybe 99 or 2000. I was supposed to go to NY the next morning so went to bed early. Apparently forecaster didn't call a storm until late that night, like midnight. My boss called me at like 5am saying our train had been cancelled - I looked outside and there was 6 inches of snow on the ground.
