I knew deep down that something bad was going to happen in that game right from the beginning. Phil called it on the very first play. He said it was gonna be a long night for John, if the refs allow those moving screens all night. That's exactly what happened and Klay should have gotten a foul for shoving John. That being said, he still should've kept his composure. I'd rather he gets sent off for a flagrant foul than jawing at an opponent lol

Have to agree. Can't see Doc Rivers letting that happen without reacting....or D'Antoni / Woodson etc.
After watching that, let's just be happy Wall didn't deck Thompson.
Fully agree with you both. John obviously bears responsibility for losing control of his emotions. But every coach tells his players "just play and let me worry about the refs." Randy has to hold up his end of the bargain. He should have gone ballistic and gotten a tech himself before the situation escalated. He should have gotten a tech or tossed even after Wall got thrown out himself. I think John would have interpreted that as a much more supportive action course than Wittman standing there, arms folded, like a disappointed parent saying "that's your second tech." You simply have to have your players' backs and I think Witt screwed up in this case.
As far as John goes, sure, you'd like to see him keep his cool there. At the same time, I do appreciate the fire. I appreciate that he doesn't back down to anyone (remember when he punched Ilgauskas as a rook?) He has to be careful not to get baited into losing his cool like this, but I dig the fact that he cares.

The problem with losing your cool is that other teams and players see it and will try to goad you into doing it again. It's one thing to go off behind a ref's bad call but quite another to be jawing with an opponent who isn't even responding. That's a little too schoolyard for me.

Under the circumstances in a game we weren't going to win, I was actually
almost happy with what John did. You could hear him on the broadcast
just repeatedly telling Thompson, go to the hole, go to the hole
in effect letting him know he had had enough and what was coming.
He gave notice he ain't going to be punked.

A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity

I didnt say career. I just meant starting like a 5 game average to bad stretch
I think it's a stretch to suggest that Wall getting thrown out last night''s game will have an impact on how he performs in even the next game.
Im just a guy who hates anything messing up the groove and when it gets thrown off then it seems always hard to get it back. I just hate how he played like a million great games in a row and seemed to be well on his way to another great 2nd half and then that happens. Then I thought about us playing the Grizz next which isnt the greatest matchup.
However, I thought we were still on the road but I see that we play them at home. Then I saw Wall's interview and he made me feel like he would come back with determination so he should be ok

I totally disagree with the 1st part. I saw someone say that on the Post board too but Im not sure we wouldve lost. To me it looked exactly like the Lakers game. I mean, we were down 21 to GS and had already cut it to 10. John already had 6 quick points in the 2nd half and was fired up after that last foul. If he doesnt get the tech then I think he wouldve went off in that 2nd half. Our guys believed they couldve came back. I think we couldve. I truly do and I think he wouldve had another big game either way which is why his ejection sucks

I think Wall out of frustration unintentionally took one for the team and it may pay off down the line.
I think it paid off tonight... I just quoted me for truth.

Now it really sucks because the Wiz are famous for having just one thing derail them. Gil could be on a hot streak, something strange would happen or a lil tweak and he would be so mentally weak that he would go into a streak of bad play. Same with Dray. When we traded everyone and he started beasting. He then had a minor tweak to his ankle and then became average after that.
Now I fear the same with Wall. He was on the top of his game sooo much and now this kinda throws off his rythm. It would suck if he started looking like crap after this. Ill be watching him close in the Grizz game but hopefully he's not as mentally weak as those guys.
What would really help him is the team being fully healthy. Cant stand watching him make great passes and guys cant finish or make wide open shots
Getting tossed for one game is not going to throw a guy's career progression off track. If Wall regresses, what that probably means is he was playing well in a small sample size and had never made a leap to begin with.
I think that's a distinct possibility, but I hope--and am gaining more hope each game--that he actually has improved.
