I didn't renew my tickets. That was highlight that kept on giving.

Rolling Thunder is the highlight of the year for DC.
They are a breath of fresh air from all the gentrifiers and yups.

I still want this guy as our staring SF. He is coming into his prime. Why replace him if you dont have to.

Yeah sometimes real life can be loud. Really loud.
The total opposite of your typical disgusting, flip flop wearing, inflated rent paying, organic eating, online blogging, gentrifier and yup. Riding a motorcycle is hell of a lot more challenging than yoga.

That's pretty catchy. You should fill it out into a song. Maybe a feature in The Music Man II.

Having done both, I would say it depends on how often you do either one. The first time I did yoga was a lot harder than the first time I rode a bike, but you have to be really advanced to take a spill @ 60+ mph doing yoga. Bike riding is probably more challenging to someone else's ears. But I gave bikes and yoga up. Too dangerous. Anyway, I still like Rolling Thunder, even after all these years.

Took my father-in-law (a D-Day vet) down to the WWII memorial yesterday. Even though that's a recent and not particularly remarkable arrival on the DC scene, I've come to like it, because my father-in-law enjoys it. He wears his medals, and young kids, fellow servicemen, Rolling Thunder participants, etc. treat him like a rock star. He especially likes meeting fellow WWII veterans, and met one there yesterday. Met an active duty German soldier as well (in uniform), who acted like he was meeting living history. Cool day.

Well I have seen local establishments such as restaurants, bars and nightclubs described as "undesirable" by gentrifiers and yups due to the large number of soldiers and military personnel who frequent the above mentioned places.

Their true feelings about people who serve or who have served in the military speaks volumes about these gentrifiers and yups.

Those idiots do not realize the national guard will be their last and only line of defense if gentrification riots ever erupt in this increasingly divided city.

They will all turn into DC versions of Reginald Denny unless the guard steps in to protect them.

I myself have often described bars or nightclubs as "undesirable" due to the large number of drinkers who frequent such establishments.

There was a time of considerable tension between the military presence in SE and the gay presence in SE. That may be more a part of the rosy past of DC, as we on the Wiz board today proudly salute.

I think that whole "gentrification riots" has the makings of a movie: "It started when a gang of thugs swarmed onto the field and attacked contestants in a no-pants kickball game. It was horrible. We had no idea that it was only the beginning."

The disgusting gentrifiers and yups I speak of were not living here 5 years ago much less 35-40 years ago and they do not know anything about the part of SE you speak of. The only thing they know is Washington Nationals Park and thats about it.

As far as the gentrification riot movie you speak of, did you see the cover story of today's Washington Post?

There is no need for a movie.
If something does eventually happen, I am sure there will be plenty of riot footage available for your viewing pleasure on YouTube.

Hopefully by then I will be thousands of miles away on a beach somewhere playing volleyball or on a boat fishing.

Due to my physical appearance, I am positive I would receive the Reginald Denny treatment from my fellow natives during the riots.
I cant be mad at them for that though.
When beatings and payback are being handed out, one does not exactly have the time to question each and every individual person walking the streets about native or gentrifier status.

So if I am still here when it goes down I guess I will just have to stand up and take my beating like a real man. :(

Thanks a lot... Yups.
