Great win, even in the face of the officials seeming to think the game was being played at Staples.

I like it when we win. Beats losing!

Has our long-standing tradition of POTG threads after wins died? I feel like that's a responsibility that should accompany the privilege of making a game thread; if we win, you gotta create the POTG.

So, while I am glad we won, my enthusiasm is curbed. FIrst, record aside, the Lakers are terrible. Look at the players in that rotation. Beating them at home isn't any sort of a point of pride. Second, 37 minutes from Nene? 43 from Webster, etc? That's just asking for trouble and is symptomatic of a horribly shallow roster. We're going to have to pay the piper for that (we already are with Beal) and it could get ugly.

BTW, I noticed that Nene managed just two rebounds in 37 minutes. I've seen it mentioned repeatedly that teams rebound better when he's on the floor even if he's not the one securing them. Is there any veracity to this claim? I see the Wizards players totaled 42 boards and the Lakers' 30. This box score also shows the WIzards besting the Lakers in a star called "team rebounds" 7 to 4. I had never heard of this stat before and haven't seen it defined. So did Nene indeed have a horrible rebounding night? Did he have a good one and the raw box score stats tell in accurate tale? Somewhere in between?

Funny you mention that, because that was a perfect example of why I dislike Wall. There is no basketball coach in America that wouldn't tell players "ALWAYS pass ahead to a guy in the open court" and for a PG to "reward your big man who runs the floor." Wall preferred to showboat and keep the points.

Probably meangingless in the big picture, but I didn't like it.

It's funny you singled out that one play but neglected to mention the many times Wall set Nene up with vicious dunks.

Or when Wall set Trevor up on the fastbreak that resulted in a dunk etc etc.

No offense Jonathan but I think you're clouded by your own biases when it comes to Wall.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Went to the game last night with a buddy of mine who, yep you guessed it is a Lakers fan(he's die hard though, not your usual bandwagon idiot).

Reg. the fans, I think our fans showed well. There were a lot of Lakers fans of course but I think we were drowning them out near the end. It was great booing Nick Young. The Lakers are a bandwagon franchise, they always have fans in visiting arenas. But when the Wizards are winning, the Phone Booth will rock more often. I remember going to games, both regular season and playoffs, during the Gil years and I do believe we had a legit home court advantage.

Jimmy Wall is balling. Ever since Irving lit him up last week he's turned it up to another level. I've always said once he gets a jump shot down he's basically un-guardable. He had Gil-like swag and confidence when he took those Js late last night to close out the game.

If we can get Beal back healthy I actually think we could have the best starting 5 in the East(outside of Miami and Indiana of course). Problem is we have no bench and I'm still not a fan of Witless.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I dont mind that but alot of fans just like those teams just because they are the "it" team. Stop being followers

The Lakers are not an it team anymore. Still funny that so many Laker fans showed up to the game.

The Lakers are an it franchise -- period. And for good reason.

On top of that, their current squad is easy to root for! They play so hard and with so much purpose. So, if you're a Lakers fan, it's fun; it's almost relaxing. Lots of entertainment but no stress around "will we win a title."

I do understand Webster's cranky reaction. But it may be that a game vs. the Lakers isn't an it game for Wizards fans this year, hence more unsold tickets that go to LA fans.

I thought it was a great game and a great win.

Knockout game by John Wall -- keep it up!

Nene had a great first half but tired in the 2d. If we keep playing him so many minutes the other shoe will drop and he'll be injured again.

Martell Webster had a really great game. In fact, so far he's having a great season. We groused about overpaying him, but relative to production he's now waaaay underpaid!

But, in his case too, I'm worried about his minutes; he does have a significant injury history, so 40+ minutes a night isn't a good thing.

Holy moly. I didn't bring up the play or start this discussion. Please check the quote where AFM called out the play and called me out. I merely responded.
