Maynor may be semi-decent. Wittman's track record with backup point guards doing better on other teams is growing- Mack, Crawford, Livingston, and now Maynor(then again it's only 2 games).

I was a fan of Maynor's game back at his VCU days and he played decently in OKC before the knee injury. I'm sure when you play poorly, lose your confidence, the coach loses faith in you and then fans boo you at home, getting traded to a bad team might be the best thing for him. He still stinks defensively but might put up decent numbers playing more consistent minutes with no pressure on him.

Gasol's career high? They are going to hammer us inside. We need a big perimeter game from Beal, 3riza and Webby.

Yeah.. Lots of records records and stretches end this year.

3 over .500 Haven't been there in a while.
more points for then against per game.. that just started last game. Should go up nicely.
TA breaking records. Most 3s in a first quarter by a Wizard.
Gortat working on a nice double double streak.

Good stuff.

Maybe its worth a thread so we can compile a list.

Comes back with a good jumper

Yep it was a decent jumper- he took the ball behind his back which created separation from the defender, it had a lot arc and more importantly it went in.

Yeah. He got a little sloppy here and then but the start the game and end it, he picked it up.

And most impressive is he didnt over shoot.

I predicted he would drive more after the AS break. Nice to see him doing it.

Hmm... You may have a point. Is this on Wittman for not using those guys properly or not articulating their roles, or is it on EG for not retaining them/trading them for decent value?

When in doubt, I tend to blame EG.

Yikes, not looking good with our depleted front court against Zach and Gasol. Booker is going to get molested.

nate33 wrote:Meh, I don't see much wrong with the way Beal is playing except for the fact that he isn't making shots. Randy can't will his shots to drop more often.

Over the last 20 games, Beal has averaged 4.7 assists and 4.4 boards per 36 minutes while keeping his turnovers down to 1.6. Those are fantastic numbers for a 20-year-old shooting guard. It's pretty hard to complain about his decision-making or "egregious turnovers". Overall, his play reminds me a lot of how he was during his first few months in the NBA. He pretty much does everything right except actually make shots. I don't really think there's much the coach can do to fix it. You don't punish a guy just for missing.

My only real beef with Beal's play is that I think he's turning down open looks from 3 point range in favor of the step-in long-2.

Agreed. On top of that Beal, instead of pressing because his shot isn't falling, has let the game come to him and pretty much let the vets who are playing well (Wall, Ariza, Gortat) lead the way. The kid is mature enough to know that the most important thing is that the team is winning.

I don't see a need for Beal to publicly question or criticize his own play to prove that he knows he's not shooting well....especially when the team is playing well.

Kind of Randy Whitman type of honestly only he has a personality. Seems like a very motivating coach.

As for Beal. He has been may favorite Wizards at times. Right now and for good chucks of this year, its not much fun watching him play. It was nice to see him clean up that extra bounce step he does after he catches the ball because it gets him moving quicker without it, but now its returned. It just looks sloppy.

At this point, I look more forward to seeing what Wall, TA and Gortat can do then Beal. Kind of sad.

But he is only 20. His numbers are up slightly. He is trying to expand on his ball handling. Its just ugly watching him try to get there. But he is .413 from 3 on 4.6 attempts a game. That's really good. He would be really efficient shooting the shots TA is taking and it wide open on. But the pump fake step inside the 3 line for the long 2 is :banghead: I don't see TA or Webster doing that so saying its the offense doesn't add up.

Side Note. Walls 3 Ball Over the last 5 games he is .412 on 3.4 attempts a game.
Beside his low December numbers, looks like he averages is around .350 on about 3.8 attempts

I thought the same thing, personality-wise he seems like Wittman.. a player's coach.

Brown's got a much better coaching pedigree than Randy though

there was actually an uncomfortably long period in the game where I
really felt scared what with the foul trouble and the horrible bench
play, that PHL could steal a win. But Wall, TA and 'tat were pretty
much enough by themselves to beat a truly awful 6er squad.

Now if they can beat Mem, the win streak could hit 9 with UT
and MIL next up after the Griz. Folks predicting > 43 wins on
the prediction thread can maybe start feeling really smart.
Doubt they make it to the 48 (or 47, I can't remember) wins
I predicted. 31-28.

Actually, I love this interview. He's 100% accessible, pretty honest. I could listen to this dude a lot.
