Wall Wizards against Gils Wizards Game Simulation

Post#1 » by hands11 » Sun Mar 23, 2014 3:27 am

So it came up in another thread what that would look like and I thought it would be interesting to banter back and forth about how those games would go.

First you have to pick a Gil team. It was the Hughes team that won the most and made it out of the first round.

Wall 23 vs Gil 23
Beal 20 vs Hughes 26
TA 28 vs Jefferies 23
Nene 31 vs AJ 28
Gortat 29 vs Haywood 25

Bench..

A Miller 37, Webster 27, Gooden 32, AH 33, Booker 26, Kevin 24, Temple 27 and Otto 20

vs

Steve Blake 24, Dixon 26, Hayes 23, Ruffin 28, Etan 26, Kwame 22, Peeler 35

Clearly Wall vs Gil would be awesome to see. http://bkref.com/tiny/E6YXU

I actually think the 07 team was the best during that era, but to be fair I think the 05 Wizards probably win 50 games if Hughes doesn't get injured at the mid point of the season. Gilbert Alrenas himself played at a superstar level in 07 where as he was more of just an All-Star in 05.

Its very hard to say who would win, I guess the current Wizards have a leg up as far as defense goes, but in that particular 2005 year you had Larry Hughes playing at an All-Star level also. It may end up being similar to that first round series vs the Bulls where in the end the 05 Wiz overall talent level ends up getting them over the hump, but the current team could certainly win if they get hot from 3.

Well we really only know what 23 year old Wall looks like so I match him up with 23 year old Gil.

I think the starters would be an interesting match up. Nene would clearly be a problem for AJ in the post. Nene would just over power him. But AJ would pull Nene out with his long ball. Wall is faster, more athletic and more defensive. He also would set up his player better. Gil would be driving and launching long balls.

Hughes could give Beal defensive problems but those wizards teams gave up a lot of 3 balls and Gil was a terrible defender. Wall could drive on his with ease.

Miller vs Blake and Dixon. He could back them down.
And what about Gooden off the bench ?

It would be an interesting series.

It wouldnt be hard to create the 05 Wizards on one of the NBA 2k games. Im sure someone probably already has.

Should simulate like 100 games and post the results, averages etc.

If i was still an unemployed bum id be on it

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
