That is legit question. Maybe the Wizards are using the data to more for financial analysis than for basketball strategy. As fans, we want to see them use the data to figure out how to win, but most companies are more interested in profit than product quality. If the data shows that Ted can get more return on investment from a losing team than a winning one - then Ted would field a loser and laugh his way to the bank. It's an unlikely hypothetical I know, but possible.
However remote that possibility, it helps fuel my not buying tickets. If he can make his money through corporate boxes, season tickets, concessions, merchandise, TV revenue, etc. then he doesn't care about the likes of me, and I watch games on TV and save money. That way Ted and I are both happy. With our mediocre team.
