All I'm saying is that if you're going to bring up the past with Rice, do it with Cousins...you appear biased. And I agree with you...if Rice plays well, none of that stuff matters.

No problem. I did not bring up Cousins past because I wasn't talking about Cousins.

I will concede that you have proven your point, TGW. DeMarcus is a guy with mental issues who drains teammates and coaches alike.

This is what I will say: if he isn't truly impossible to work with his talent will determine how much people with tolerate. The same is true for Rice as Cousins.

The true professionals like Phil Jackson and Coach K know how to work with all kinds of people.

The only problem I see is I don't think Randy Wittman will tolerate Glen Rice Jr. He is not Phil Jackson.

Well Glen also isnt the prospect Cousins is/was

Its all relative what you will put up with for what you get. Why else do you think the hottest girl tend to be the craziest

Not many other coaches are going to deal with much from Glen. Glen could get cut tomorrow and not even sure he would even get resigned right away. Try that with Cousins.

It's a really small sample size. Only 5 games. Only 43 minutes. Only 7 3 point attempts and only 1 for 7. He can't be yelling at Wittman even if he's frustrated though. Not sure what was said but that's probably a bigger reason why he's benched.

Rice isn't the only one who has been struggling at the wing. Garret Temple has struggled over his past 2 games with 60 minutes. 6 points, shooting 10% from the field. Paul Pierce too is shooting less than 20% from the field over his last 3 games. Those guys are going to have to pick it up if the Wizards are going to keep winning- especially since Wall is setting them up for wide open 3s.

It shouldn't come as a big surprise that Rice clashed with a coach. The Wizards traded for him knowing about his past. I did not want him because of him being dismissed from Georgia Tech; Rice being in a car in which allegedly a shot was fired; his own negative opinion he aired publicly about Glen Rice Sr, his dad; and, a very negative comment about Rice Jr made by one of his former coaches. To my way of thinking, his character seemed sketchy.

Rice shut me up with the way he dominated summer league. The Wizards need to see their investment through. If they wanted a solid guy they could have stuck with Wolters.

Oh wow, because professional players never clash with coaches. 'So lets revisit his past because I told you Wolters was a better choice at the time' post by CCJ. :nonono:

For all this love of Wolters, it would be nice if he was actually any good! A 65% free throw shooter, a 29% 3-pt shooter. Exactly what your NOT looking for in a backcourt with John Wall. Likely being a 22 yr old (now 23) rookie was the biggest reason he wasn't completely terrible last season. But lets not act like he was some impressive player that could steal rotation minutes on a playoff team. He isn't. Maybe if he was, he wouldn't be losing minutes to the likes of Jerryd Bayless & Kendall Marshall (another board favorite that isn't particularly good at professional basketball)

Wolters was a team high +16 and played 17 minutes tonight. Milwaukee won.

PS -- I am glad you're back, Dat2U.

Rice Jr vs Wolters is just a little running debate. Who knows how it will play out. I just enjoy when I get some encouragement or fuel for a debate. This from the Bucks board.

Happy to see Wolters playing tonight - he moved the ball well and played great defense

Nate was fundamentally sound as usual in a game that wasn't fundamentally sound. He's my POTG.

LOL, if Quincy Miller can have "suitors" or get a ton of interest from teams around the league then Glen Rice Jr., son of a former all-star, MVP of the summer league & former NBDL MVP will have options to choose from if he gets released by the Wizards.

I'm sure his name will be out there. Not saying someone wouldn't pick it up eventually.

But objectively, the name recognition will good, doesn't override other more important facts.
He hasn't shown much in the NBA. He has been inconsistent and injured.
There are good DL players that don't translate to the NBA. Pretty sure GMs know that.
And if you are this type of player with a questionable past, mouthing off to your coach doesn't help.

My position on Glen is simply, I see him as an eventual potentially viable off the bench spark, but he isn't that now. What I see his role being best is a solid strong body man defender, offensive rebounder and a player who can drive and get FTAs. For now, he best contribution is in that limited focus on what skills I see he has that I think best and most quickly transfer to the NBA and more specifically, this team. If he can add hitting a wide open 3, that would be awesome, but not required. Down the road I would want more 3 shooting but for now only wide open shots where his is set. If not, pass it around. If they need more 3 shooting, they can use R Butler to fill that role. Hopefully Temple returns to better then then his slump. And Beal and Wester will be returning soon so that won't be Glen's role longer term this year.

That's just how I see it. I think he need to carve out his spot while he can. We could use a strong body, young legged wing defender that can get to the line and offensive rebound off the bench. Thats a valuable piece for a playoff team.

Anyway, welcome back DAT
