Predict Wizards Record: December 2014 Edition

Post#1 » by Rafael122 » Mon Dec 1, 2014 3:25 pm

Didn't we use to do this back in the day? October and November are done, let's start off w/December.

vs. Miami - W
vs. LA Lakers - W
vs. Denver - W
@Boston - W
vs. Boston - W
@Orlando - W
vs. LA Clippers - L
vs. Utah - W
vs. Minnesota - W
@Miami - W
vs. Phoenix - L
vs. Chicago - L
@Knicks - CHRISTMAS DAY - W
vs. Boston - W
@Houston - L
@Dallas - L

The schedule gets tough at the end of the month as they begin the Texas road trip as well as a meeting w/OKC. The Wiz only have 2 back to back games, with a 3 day break in the middle of the month. They pretty much are going to play every other day.

I'm going with 11 wins and 5 losses, with an overall record of 21-11 to end the year.

I'm not going to buy into the logic that we win all the games against teams we should and lose to all the better opponents. I think we'll finally start to beat some of the better opponents and maybe have a slip up against some of our lesser opponents. Of our loses, Miami we were neck-and-neck with, but they started going berserk the last minutes; same with Dallas at home for the couple of minutes. Atlanta we still had a great chance to win but 25 TO's sealed the deal. 3 of those loses were without Nene (MIA, ATL, and CLEV). Yes the no shows at both Toronto and Cleveland are disappointing, yes, but other than those two performance we have shown that we are a highly competitive team.

This is just the way the schedule is...it's not the Wizards fault that 7 of their 16 games are against teams w/a .500 record or better. I'm a homer with the game tonight, I think they're going to lose but I hope they win...Miami is coming off a back to back and who knows how Wade's hammy will respond. I think anywhere between 9-11 wins this month will be a successful month.

Raf started me down the optimism road with his 11-5 but I'm going
to go even more kool-aid-y. 12-4. Seeing as I am predciting a 9 game winning
streak, I'll probably be off by a bit, maybe a lot.

MIA could beat us here tonight.
Lakers actually could beat us with a mixed crowd Wed night.
CHI could beat us and the Clips could beat us.
Actually anyone could beat us but for the time being, we should actually
be favored in many of these games.

The schedule doesn't look like it's getting much more difficult in December. They'll get some Western Conference teams, but mostly the weak sister variety. On average, their December opponents are about 1.3 points per game worse than average so far this season. Basically, the equivalent of facing a 37-win team, on average.

Game by game:

Code: Select all

OPP     PLACE   W-L
MIA     H       W
LAL     H       W
DEN     H       W
BOS     A       L
BOS     H       W
ORL     A       W
LAC     H       L
UTA     H       W
MIN     H       W
MIA     A       L
PHX     H       W
CHI     H       W
NYK     A       W
BOS     H       W
HOU     A       L
DAL     A       L

That adds up to 11-5. Which would be very nice. :nod:

Number of wins 1 through 16 - or if it just lets you do 10 then 7 - 16 (although that might be the ultimate jinx :))

I could see the Wizards taking over 1st place in the East at some point during the month of December.

Washington deserves all the credit in the world for having a great season.
The Wiz will definitely be in the 50+ range obviously I think the Raptors are better but love the battle between the 2 teams. Screw Cleveland, Chicago & Atlanta :lol:
