Yeah this is all Whittman's fault and he needs to be fired after the season no matter how they finish. As soon as Wall put pressure on them to finally change the defense we started winning. The only good thing about this season is that Wall seems to finally be wielding the power he has as the star player. He's finally becoming a leader.

I don't know how you can tell if this is Wittman or the players. I'm assuming Wittman instructs them to prepare and play hard every game. It's just that, for some reason, they don't seem to do so until the stakes are very high.

Wittman was telling Wall all year long to ease up on that defensive pressure...

Whittman was employing a defensive scheme all year that was too complicated and wasn't working. And it has been clear that from comments from more than one player that there has been an air of negativity at all levels. As far as the on court product that is up to the coach to fix.

Yep, in the past it was just Gortat beefing with Witt. Now it's spreading. Firing Wittman at the all-star break was the biggest impact move they could have made IMO.

But I don't want to derail a game thread. Great win last night, too bad we didn't get any help. But let's see if they can keep it up to give themselves a chance. Go Wiz!

The Wizards pick and roll coverage has been driving me crazy for a long long time, I can't believe it took this long for Washington to finally make an adjustment.

Randy's asinine comments about the players having to speak up to me took the cake.

I like Wittman, he doesn't deserve the blame for this mess, but it's clear as day that Washington can do better.

Unfortunately there's very little chance that there will be change.

The Wizards already have their scapegoat (injuries) and Leonsis is neither going to hold Grunfeld accountable, nor is he going to fire the head coach he basically handpicked.

Gortat was very good, especially early. It makes a big difference from last year vs the Hawks without having another big in Nene clogging the middle upand also a big difference with hhaving Brad back now spreading the floor instead of Temple (who has actually been pretty good on the 2nd unit)

Yup it seems to have to do more with Beal (and Morris) than overall coaching.

Where were you when we lost 5 in a row, Millie? We're 5-5 in the last 10 games. I believe that's more or less what one might expect from a .500 team, no? Or do I have that wrong?

At 30-30, we were setting out to make a run for the playoffs. Tell me, Millie, because I wouldn't want to make a mistake here: how much have we gained on the teams we have to pass in order to get into the playoffs in that last 10-game stretch?

Lets see... Toronto has gone 8-2, Chicago, Detroit & Indiana have all gone 6-4. Atlanta & Charlotte have both gone 8-2. Miami has gone 7-3.

I guess that means we're gaining on 'em, huh Millie? Things are looking great, right?

Record aside, you have to look at the big picture. You have to feel confiendent in this roster based on recent performance with a few things solidified:

1. We have a core.

2. Wall is outplaying his current contract.

3. Porter and Beal have developed and matured to contribute substantially.

Goals are being met. When clicking, we can beat anyone in the East. The Morris trade was key in giving this team the spark they needed, yet timewas needed for Morris to learn and adjust in Wittmans offense. If by some chance we unfortunately miss the playoffs this season (injuries are always a big factor), theres hope going forward in Grunfelds ability to add key pieces in free agency (as proven) next season that will most certainly have this team contending in the near future. We are very close.

dlts20 wrote:CCJ, I literally haven't seen him post in a year and then you show up on your opponents board to down them after a big win? Who does that especially after your team is 10-2 and killing good teams? It wreaks of someone disappointed in his team losing after thinking they were playing great so he comes to rain on your parade to make him feel better.

I'm not going to another board just to tell them we both suck after they beat us. It's not like we were talking trash and clowning them. Like seriously, what is the point of doing it? He's not posting in any of the Hawks threads and last year i remember him getting upset at people on the Hawks board for being negative so now he does it on his opponents board out of nowhere? You don't get it

Fair enough.

I apologize, dlts20.
