Wright was definitely one of the quickest, fastest NBA players ever. I thought based on that alone he'd have a longer career than he had. He and Kupchak and Ballard were the young players in the '78 and '79 Finals teams.
I thought those guys didn't get quite as much credit as they should have - particularly Kupchak. if Kupchak had stayed, the Bullets might have stayed in contention for another few years, but he chose the Lakers and blew out his knee. Hmrm, a front court with Ruland, Kupchak, Mahorn, and Ballard. Thuganomical. Weird how both Kupchak and Ruland blew out their knees shortly after leaving the Bullets in what should have been the prime of their careers.
Greg Ballard and his family went to the same church as my mom and me back in the day. (Grace United Methodist, Ft Washington).
Ruz, I loved those three. Wright, Mitch, and Ballard. Kupchak was really good before the injuries. He's done very nicely for himself within the Laker organization.
Ballard had a nice, long, journeyman career. Porter kinda reminds me of Ballard.monte, that "Thuganomical" front court would have kept Mr Pollin from having the suck arse Wes Unseld-coached teams. The curse of the Bullets must have began around the time those guys got injured.
I wrote about Strickland and I think I might take prime Strickland over anyone on the list...maybe.
