Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
Just curious as to which (with this small sample size) team has been the biggest surprise to you?

Re: Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
Even with so many things going right for Boston (GM, coaching, good collection of young talent), they lost IT and lost their prime FA acquisition. 17-3 is a big surprise to me. Also Pistons 12-6 record with road wins against Warriors and Thunder. Drummond 28% FT shooting in college was my reason for not being excited about him coming out, and his 40% FT shooting as a pro seemed to confirm, but he's over 60% this year. As many predicted, the EC looks better overall. Pacers doing OK moving on from George may be a mild surprise, though Knicks doing OK moving on from Anthony isn't really a surprise to me.
In the other direction, I thought Bucks were ready to make a move this year, but maybe need another year.

Re: Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
I'd say the Pacers are surprising, didn't think they'd be this good without PG.
Boston for obvious reasons. Didn't expect their defense to be as good but there they are and their rebounding has improved.
Other than that, everyone is where I thought they'd be. The Wiz won't be able to stay out of the playoff picture long this year if they want to make a run. Very possible that all of these Ls, bad coaching, bad ISO ball will get us in the lottery with how the East has gotten better.

This is starting to feel like 2015 again. After a decent playoff run, we failed to upgrade the 2nd unit, came into the season with unrealistic expectations and were.... thoroughly mediocre.

Re: Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
The Wizards have surprised me the most.
I figured they'd get off to a fast start and would sit atop the Eastern Conference at this point of the season.
There wasn't any expectation that they'd sustain that pace but the schedule looked favorable enough that I expected them to rip off a bunch of wins and that they'd be sitting right around 16-3 or 15-4 at this point.
Boston the other obvious surprise. After that opener I didn't expect them to bounce back the way they have, although I must say that I don't quite trust their record.
They're essentially the bizarro version of the Wizards with all of those come from behind wins.

Re: Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
Nets, Magic, Knicks are better than I expected.
Considering I picked the Wiz to have 44 wins, they’re right about where I guessed (sad to say).
But the real surprises are Boston. I put money on the under (55.5 wins) and would not have given them a 10% chance to be 18-3 at this point. And with Haywood out... At this rate Stevens is a shoe in for coach of the year.
Detroit is nearly as surprising. Thought they were ready to quit on SVG. I want to know what he said to Drummond.

Drummond with 26 & 22 (75% FTs) last night for the W on the road against the Celts.
Yah, now I REALLY want yo know what SVG is whispering in Andre’s ear.

Re: Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
I expected the Knicks to improve, b/c they got rid of Carmelo, who is not a good player, & brought in Kanter, who is an offensive force. But, in fact, they aren't all that much better. Their record is deceiving, as they've played 13 of 20 games at home. Everyone has a better record at home.
Boston, obviously, is an enormous surprise! Especially w/ Hayward lost for the season in the first game! But, maybe even more b/c of the young guys on the team who have played so well: Rozier, Tatum, Brown & Theis (who was a complete outta nowhere unknown!). & this is one of those few cases where coaching really seems to be adding a lot of value in # of wins.
I'm only a little surprised by the Pacers. They lost Paul George, but he - like Melo - is one of those way overrated players (how's OKC doing??), so I didn't think that'd make them worse. & then they signed Collison, so I thought they might even get better instead. They're doing even better than I expected -- Sabonis has turned into a terrific player in a hurry, & Bojan's numbers are his best ever.
Detroit's a surprise, b/c of who they are getting production from: Reggie Jackson is having his best season, & guys like Eric Moreland, Anthony Tolliver, & Langston Galloway have been big contributors.

Re: Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
Of course I'm surprised by the Wizards. Especially, b/c our record is strangely different from last year when we dominated at home & found it hard to win on the road. When did we get our 5th road win last year?
In 10 home games, we're up 28 points total to our opponents. That should result in a better record than 5-5.
In 9 away games, we're up 43 points total to our opponents! Should result in better than 5-4.
A larger sample (more games) should lead to more normal looking results.

Re: Which EC Team(s) have surprised you?
I'm surprised Orlando has 8 wins. They have come to earth a bit but I had them as the 2nd or 3rd worst team in the East. Then I would have to go with Detroit, especially with Andre Drummond playing as well as he is. I thought teams like Philadelphia and Boston would be good but have clicked much better than I've expected.
Washington is my most disappointing team so far in the East.

I was surprised how bad the Bucks looked when we played them, they didn't look well-coached.
