With 5 mins left in the 2nd with the score level, the lineup is:
PG Beal (not playing good)
SG Meeks (playing good, but starting to cool off)
SF Oubre (playing out his damn mind)
PF Scott (playing good)
C Mahinmi (finally playing great)
This was after subbing in Beal for Sato (who was playing good).
Brooks then rolls with:
PG Beal
SG Oubre
SF Porter
PF Scott
C Morris
Rebounding and interior D takes a noticable hit. Morris immediately kills the flow of the game with a stupid foul. Beal at PG just isnt working. I'm predicting another Twolves run that we never catch up to (im watching a recording and making these notes so i don't spoil the game).
Well I was almost right, they went on a run, but..
3rd quarter, Morris and Frazier off, Sato and Oubre on... double digit lead down to 5. Things that make you go hmmmmm

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Wow, we won!
And why? We stuck with the Beal, Oubre, Porter, Scott, Mahinmi lineup.
My takeaways:
1. Sato NEEDS 12-18 minutes a game as backup PG. Put him in at SG or SF too, if Meeks is cold.
2. Good to see Mahinmi play up to his contract. If this is the first of many, he;s playing his way to a starters job.
3. Oubre needs to start, with Otto in place of Morris. This just has to happen, I see it. You guys see it. The stats show it. Just do it.
4. Morris is ass and should be 3rd string PF behind Otto and Scott.
5. Scott plays this game but not last game? He seems to only play every other game? Why? Brooks, we are 20 games in mate. If you dont have the rotations down pat by now....

Sato was terrific tonight, & yes he's had a couple of good games in the past. But, not enough yet to establish himself as a good player. That said, he should play a lot -- we need to see what we've got.closg00 wrote:A successful draft and stash so props to Ernie.
I give props to Ernie when, every once in a while, he makes a good decision, but not for drafting Tomas Satoransky, not when Draymond Green, Jae Crowder, Khris Middleton, Will Barton & Kyle O'Quinn were still on the board.
Agree, but said in the spirit of EG not flushing the pick completely per usual
Fair enough!

Where would he go?
Satoransky's is fully guaranteed for next year. We get to give him a qualifying offer for 2019-20.

Amidst all of the Mahinmi hate (most of it justified), he's our only big that knows how to defend the PnR. I still stand by that he's going to make a late season push and become a contributor to our season, and that Scotty giving him all this PT will pay off.

He needs to getting more minutes towards the latter half of the season and transition into a primary role next season. He is showing some good sign, give him minutes. I especially like watching him on defense.
Still want him to dunk all over someone this year, preferably anyone on boston

I liked everything I saw last night. Satoransky playing 20+ minutes and making a huge impact. Oubre playing 30+ and specifically, more minutes than Morris. Most importantly, Otto closing the game with actual plays run for him to shoot the ball.
if we are sitting here at the end of the season talking about Satoransky, Oubre, and Porter making big time contributions, then we are probably recapping a season in which we reached the ECF or even the NBA finals.
