Would Melo give up a ton of money to join a star studded team? He does have an ETO, so he could become a free agent.

Good question.

He still had a no trade clause, so doesn’t really have to give up money...

A lot of teams would give up bad contracts for 1 year of 28 mill... At worst, that mid level team gets 28 mill of cap relief after a season, to go after pieces that fit better

why would OKC take on bad contracts for no reason? why would anyone give up assets of any kind for Melo?

id trade Morris and Mahinmi if Brooks agreed to only use him as a backup PF like Mike Scott.

Morris is a better value than Melo... Id rather pay my starting PF 8 mill a year who knows he a role player, than trade for a 28 mill backup who thinks he should be the offensive focal point.

I think we should look into unloading our old centers, getting a backup scorer like Will Barton, and actually keeping and developing draft picks

Probably not. When he was a free agent the last time around, he wasn't willing to give up cash to sign with a playoff contender like the Chicago Bulls.

This is a really amusing thread. For some people, it's just doesn't seem possible to get Carmelo Anthony off their minds.

I'm not sure these 3 goals are compatible. It's going to take an asset to unload either center.
Also I like Will Barton, but we need shooting more, and hes about to be fairly paid. We need to find guys with 2 - 3 years in the league that are undervalued.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.
